possible verizon wire hanging low over driveway.

Wire between a pole and our house in the back looks like it is hanging several feet lower than yesterday. If I reach up I could practically touch it (and no I would never touch it). It appears to be attached to both the house and a pole so it hasn't detached but now it is pretty much almost on my garage roof and hanging really low over the driveway a neighbors small branch is keeping it from hanging lower. I "think" but could be wrong that it looks like it might be going to our verizon box ( there are several black wires tied together but we think it is going to that box).

Do I call verizon? Since I am not sure if it is their wire? Will they do anything since our service is working. I am sure they are busy with people who lost their service. I am just worried that since it looks several feet lower it might go so I don't know if it is safe.

i would be safe and call verizon. yes there are people that already have outages, but preventing yours from going out is easier than fixing it once it goes out...

Thanks I guess they would then tell me if it isn't theirs too. I guess I wasn't sure if they would do anything since it isn't down.

they'll eventually send someone out..

we had a low wire after Irene last year. Called LIPA they came out and said it was cablevision, called cable they came out and said it was verizon(which must have been before we bought the house)... verizon didn't come out - even though I called them and told them the line was - HANGING LOW IN THE STREET AND SUV'S COULDN"T PASS UNDER IT.... the police ended up getting called cause of crazy neighbor and the police cut the line for us.like 3 weeks later verizon called they were coming out..

We had a similar situation (minus the cops/crazy neighbor). The wire was very low and I think eventually snapped and they NEVER came. We don't have verizon so I think it was just an old wire and they didn't care since we're weren't their costumer.
