Sign of wanting to potty train?

Dd is 21 months. For the past few days she comes to me and tells me "poop" right before she poops.
Is that a sign that I should start potty training?

What kind of potty seat should I get? I'm thinking one that u put on the regular toilet.

TIA

Dd does this a lot. She will tell me when she needs to changed for pee or poop. I thought I would have an easy time training her. It turns out she does not want to train haha.

I bought a step stool and the seat that goes on the big potty. She has no problem getting up and down on her own and will sit for a few.

My dh then convinced me to buy a separate potty seat for her so I went with her and we picked out a cheap one. It's a frog. I think Fisher price. She will sit on that one sometimes.

I would at least try with your dd. Start her. Just don't push it. If she's not ready wait a little bit longer.

Re: Sign of wanting to potty train?

I don't know- DD has been doing this for months and months now- but when I mention the potty or try it- she shows no interest.
I don't think she's ready- even though she knows when she is wet or dirty.
It's like she knows after she did it- but she can't hold it before doing it to get to the potty.

Sign of wanting to potty train?

DD is 16 months and just started doing this also. She says pee pee when her diaper is wet and says poo poo before she poops. I don't think she's ready though. I did buy the FP Cheer for Me potty (or something like that) and will give it to her for Christmas. We'll see how she is then. But right now, even though she tells us when she has to go, she'd be happy as a clam to just sit in that dirty diaper all day. She has no desire to potty train yet.

Re: Sign of wanting to potty train?

DD (also 21 months) has been showing interest since late summer. I bought her a potty and she sits on it (clothed), wipes, throws the TP in and closes the lid, then "flushes".

One night in September we were relaxing before bed and she says "poo poo". I decided to try something and put her on the potty. Well, she actually pooped on the potty!! I was so SO proud lol. BUT she hasn't gone on the potty since then so it was just a fluke.

I am home for a week around Christmas and bought her "big girl undies" from Santa so I want to start training her then. I think she's ready, I just need to be consistent.
