Help! My 16 month old DS won't keep on a hat!!
So the weather is getting cold and I am at a loss for what to do. My 16 month old DS pulls off every hat possible! I had this problem with dd when she was really little but she outgrew it quickly. DS, on the other hand, won't tolerate a hat for more than 30 seconds. His rips them off. And if they have Velcro, he pulls until he chokes himself just to get it off.
Any suggestions? Or do I just try everyday until he gives up?

My DD is 16 months and doing the same exact thing. I put it on her and even put her hood over it and she still managed to get the hat off. I say pick your battles. I put the hat on everytime and if she takes it off, well there's the hood that she can't take off.

Re: Help! My 16 month old DS won't keep on a hat!!
DD is almost 15 months and does the same thing. She still has almost no hair, so she needs a hat in the summer to protect from burn and in the winter to keep her warm. Sometimes I will put the hat on and make a big deal "WOW What a pretty, pretty princess", and after a few tries and clapping hands, she will keep it on (or I get the opposite result where she wants to take it off and put it back on herself (which is hard for a fitted hat) so she can get more claps and praise. LOL).
Other times, I put it on and give her a distraction at the same time (puffs, cheerios, fun toy), and she will forget it is there and keep it on. This only works for lighter hats that aren't super bulky.
Good luck!

one of my twins will not let a hat stay on her head at all. not a hair clip, a head band, a hat. and sometimes she even takes them off her sister. I will keep putting the hat on her head, but at some point I need to move on to a different task. I have just excepted that her head is going to be cold.
