Up all night crying bc of teething...? one yr old..please help

My one yr old is not a great sleeper to begin with. Now we are at the point where he falls asleep in his crib and when he wakes up we take him into bed with us bc he won't go back to bed in his crib.

Well the last three nights he has been up most of the nights whimpering, sometimes screaming and chewing his lovey blanket (in our bed). I see two 12 month molars broke through..

Is this normal? we give him advil, teething tablets, rub his back & belly, rock him, hold him, etc..nothing seems to work. He is so over tired yesterday he wouldn't even nap Chat Icon

His sleeping habits are SO bad I am worried for him, I know it is not good for his health and development. We tried Ferber but it was so hard and didn't seem to be working consistently so we quit after a couple tries...

Any advice or experience/guidance is greatly appreciated.

I'm a big advocate of CIO but I wouldn't do it if he is in pain. Have you had him checked for an ear infection? Those symptoms can mimic teething sometimes.

Afterwards, if you want to hear about my CIO experiences, let me know Chat Icon

No but I need to, he had an ear infection when he was @ 6 months. I think I will take him to PM Peditarics.

eta: and yes to the CIO advice, I know I need to do it for HIS own good, he can't keep this not sleeping thing going it is making him sick Chat Icon

I'd take him to ped to rule out ears. Does he have temp? If its not ears, this should only last temporarily till the molars break through.

Okay so we went to PM Pediatrics, it is not his ears, only teeth. There was one spot on the back of his throat, a lot of these dots indicate coxsackie but since it was one the dr didn't diagnose coxsachie. Need to alternate tylenol and advil every 3 hrs. His mouth is very swollen.

Poor baby

DS 1 was a horrible sleeper too and a horrible teether. The top molars were horrible, as were the eye teeth.

DS 2 has 4-5 teeth coming in at the same time right now. Im a zombie!

I know how you feel!!! It does get better. DS 1 is a great sleeper now and DS 2 usually sleeps well. Teething is horrible.
