i think dd has developed a cat allergy

my mom, sister and i have always been allergic to cats. my mom and sister are worse than me. i can handle being around cats but it makes me uncomfortable. dd has never showed any signs of being allergic until tonight. My MIL and FIL have a cat and he is not very people friendly so he hides in their room most of the time and they keep a clean house, but whenever I go over there I am still sensitive of it but can tolerate it. Well, tonight DD was fine until she pet the cat and then I noticed her sneezing a lot and then she was complaining her eye hurt. I'm assuming it's because she rubbed her eye after petting the cat. She was sniffling a bunch too which is how I typically react to cats too. So, my question is...what do I do? Do I just assume she has the allergy or do i call the ped and have her tested? My mom never did that with me. She just knew and I just always accepted it.

Ask your pediatrician but I told mine I though DS might be allergic to cats. She told me to use Claritin and said nothing about testing.
