Re: When do you start giving an infant "real" food?
I'm confused... Do you mean giving them solid, not pureed food? or just not from a jar?
I went back and forth between making my own baby food and jared.
As for solids, once they were about 7 months adjusted, I would offer a bit of what I was eating and would see how they did with it. I started with softer foods, pasta, some fruit or over cooked veggies. I think.. Funny how it was only a few months ago and I still do not have a clear memory of it.

When do you start giving an infant
I have been giving DS bits of table food for a few months. He still is not a big fan but I keep trying.....he hates real chicken but loves chocolate chip cookies...go figure!

When do you start giving an infant
I gave DS super ripe banana and avacado at about 7-8 months when I started giving puffs (in half because i was nervous they wouldn't dissolve!!)
There's no rule saying you have to give jarred food. You can go right to table foods. Google baby led weaning and you'll find info.

Re: When do you start giving an infant "real" food?
You mean table food right?
At 6-7 months my DD started having scrambled eggs, yogurt, cheese, shredded chicken, meatballs, pasta, puffs, bananas, etc. Anything soft that she could grind up with her gums. (she didn't have teeth until she was 1)
She had started with baby cereal and jarred foods at 4 months old so by 6-7 months she was ready to move on and she detested all the Stage 3 meat meals so we went over to table foods.

same here. DS didnt HATE stage 3 and at 1 yr old he will still eat it if need be but he prefers homemade/table food.
