when did you feel comfortable
with your children -
running around a playground (while you sit on a bench or watch from some distance - not right on top of them)
playing in the back yard while you are in doors
playing with neighbors children without parental supervision (in front/behind your house or neighbors?)
I know my son is only 2.5 but I cannot imagine feeling comfortable soon. I see kids at the playground running around while parents sit and watch. The children seem to be in the range of 4-5 years old, maybe even younger?
Children on our block are riding up and down, playing on lawns at 4/5 without parental supervision.
Is that the norm?

Re: when did you feel comfortable
I'm with you, I dont feel like I'll ever be comfortable with it!
Plus it really irrates me when we are at the playground and the little punk kids go after the little ones and the parents are too busy reading or on their ipad to bother

Re: when did you feel comfortable
Depends on the type of park and how crowded it is....but usually I'm a few steps behind her. If the park is REALLY empty and I have DD2 in the Bjorn I may sit on a bench to rest my back a bit while DD1 plays. DH is a lot more "free" with her at the park and I always get nervous.
And I agree with pp about the big kids being crazy around the lil ones. Makes me soo nervous (and angry!).

Re: when did you feel comfortable
i think that at this age, I am just scared out of my mind that he may try to slide dows a fire pole or jump from a high place or get pushed. I literally feel like I have to be right there, just in case.
I wish I could relax a little I'd love to feel comfortable sitting on a nearby bench (still watching every move) but I do not feel at all comfortable. NOT ready to let go
