Re: Am I wrong or the Godfather wrong?

When I noticed, I probably would have arranged a small cake and song for the god father and told the girl friend of my plans, invite them to join and celebrate.
I do think he is being silly.
I'm going to differ and say I wouldn't get a cake for him..... It would detract attention from the kids birthday. When we had ds's baptism party it was two days before dh's birthday. We didn't have a 30th birthday cake for him - at his request.

I wound't care if Godfather comes or not. Your DS will not remember and it is godfathers loss.
this is how i feel too.
Though i will say the godfather is acting a little childish about it.
I agree with both points.

Re: Am I wrong or the Godfather wrong?
He's not coming because he "might have plans???" not cool and he's totally in the wrong. I would lose my shit on my bil's if they pulled that on one of my kids birthday partys. He needs to grow up.

Re: Am I wrong or the Godfather wrong?
He is absolutely wrong. He can go to the party and celebrate his birthday later. He is being childish and selfish.

Am I wrong or the Godfather wrong?
But wouldn't an adult celebrate their birthday in the evening? I don't even understand why he is being such a child over this. Unless it is his 30th, 40th or 50th, and his gf was planning a huge party, he can easily spend 1.5 hours with your son for his birthday party.

Eh, I don't worry about detracting attention. It's just not something that bothers me. I say there is room to celebrate everyone. Especially someone as close as a Godfather.

Re: Am I wrong or the Godfather wrong?
To be honest, I can see both sides so I don't think either of you are wrong..
While its very nice of you and you DH to never miss anything for his kids, it's not something you are obligated to do.
Can he stop by even for 20 minutes, sure... but it seems like he's pretty stuck in his ways....
is the he related to you at all?

Re: Am I wrong or the Godfather wrong?
thanks everyone- appreciate the feedback! He's not related to us by blood but he and my dh have been best friends for over 20 years and are more like brothers than my dh and his real blood brother.
I think I was just hurt because overall he doesnt make an effort and he said he might have plans, not that they were definite.
I havent said a word to him about it- he responded this way to an evite and I am just leaving it alone.
