After DS wakes at 3am to eat I have to put him in swing????

Ugh DS was going back in crib nice but last few days he cries in crib after his 3am feeding but goes right back in swing. He is teething bad (I give Tylenol as needed) but would u let ur 6m old go back to sleep in swing? DD (3) is already waking up in middle of the night having some nightmares etc (normally a great sleeper).....so I don't. Want his crying waking her more and obviously we all nwed our sleep.

I would! As long as he fits in and he is fine.

My first DS was really hard to get to go back to sleep in the middle of the night when he was a baby. Swaddling used to help a lot, but then he got too big for it. So I put him in the swing. I shut off the rocking motion once he fell asleep so he wouldn't need that.

Once he was over that phase he slept in his crib just fine.

Yes I used to do that with dd. she would wake early, 5am. I'd give her a bottle and she refused to go back to crib. I put her in swing with a teether or little soft toy. She'd lay there for a bit and eventually drift off to sleep for a couple more hours. I think it's fine to do.

My DS was in his swing for naps and night until 7 months.....we also had the movement on the entire time. Ped said he is fine and as long as we are all getting sleep, that is what matters.

IMO, let him sleep wherever he wants to!

At one point for about a week the only way DD and I would get sleep is together in a recliner - same thing, she was waking around 3am. I would have to recline, hold her in the crook of my arm, and put the celing fan on. It was ridiculous but we both needed to sleep. If she would sleep in a dog bed I would put her there.

I personally would not do that, I'd try to rock them back to sleep or something only b/c eventually the baby is going to grow out of that swing and THEN what do you do? KWIM? Mine were out by 3m.

- but you have to do what's best for you

This made me LOL

And SOOO true. I was about to reply that if my DD would sleep in a Moses Basket floating down a river I would have done it at that point! Chat Icon

DD does this also. She will be 5MO next week. I end up sleeping on the couch until its time for me to get up. Wherever she gets her sleep is fine with me!

I used to rock my dd to sleep till she was a yr. He doesnt like me rocking him lol. I am thinking of trying cio but 3 am is not fun lol. He falls asleep ok in the crib on his own in crib at times but still mostly falls asleep at night to the bottle. Not sure if i should try to get rid of 3am feeding.

OK so I did CIO. I put DS down after his last bottle...he went in at 9:10pm and cried for 15 mins and then was fast asleep. It was more of a whine/cry. Still hated hearing it. He normally was going down around 10 after he finished the bottle. I think he may have been overtired too....so maybe doing this earlier is better. IDK if this will work at 2am or 3am but shall try.

OMG you just described my son!! He is 6mths old and teething. Hegoes to sleep fine but around 4-5am he wakes up crying and will only go back to sleep in his swing. He also does this when hes sick, I think its a comfort thing being swung when not feeling well KWIM? I just leave him in the swimg..its the only way I can sleep lol. Im just hoping he doesnt grow out of his swing too fast. I dont think theres anything wrong as long as everyone gets some sleepChat Icon
