Possible nanny hire that wears strong perfume... can I say something?

I have been searching for a nanny and I did find someone I like. Only thing is... she wears a really strong perfume. I don't know exactly what it is but it's a smell that I am very sensitive to and I also don't want DD to be irritated by it. DH thinks I can't say anything to her about it but if it comes down to that then I just can't hire her. What do you guys think, can I bring it up? I was thinking I could just say that we limit anything very fragrant around the baby. Any other suggestions of how I could bring it up?

I think so. I get headaches from strong smells, so if it was me, I'd try to nicely tell her that I really would love for her to work for us, but would she be able to maybe avoid perfume b/c it made me feel unwell- and possibly your child as well.

I had to do that at work before b/c the women I work with started wearing strong perfume. It wasn't that it smelled bad, just that it gave me the worst headaches. I felt terrible but they understood (for awhile anyway.Chat Icon Chat Icon )

Definitely tell her nicely. Say you get headaches. If I were her, I'd rather have a job than wear perfume. And if you DON'T hire her because of it, she'll never know why and think it's because you didn't like HER for your kids, which I would guess would hurt her feelings even more.

Another thing is she might have just sprayed the perfume before you met her.
My mum does this all the time. It is a habit she has from the time she smoked.
