Anyone have a toddler who tics?
Let me preface by saying that my husband has a mild case of Tourette's, which manifests itself in motor tics, mostly facial. A couple of months ago, we started noticing some tics in our 2.5 year old. The two that have been very consistent are exaggerated blinking and ear swatting/rubbing. They happen throughout most of the day, and much more frequently if he is tired or stressed. We brought it up to our ped about a month and a half ago. She said it is common for kids to develop tics at this age that will go away after a little while. She said if it is still going on after a while, we should bring him to a neurologist. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this. Anyone's child have tics for a few months or so that went away on their own? TIA.

Anyone have a toddler who tics?
ds got a tic after he was 2, one of them involved an arm wagging after catching a ball I think...... it seemed to go away after a month or two.....
same with another he had i can't remember now. basically we made sure not to draw attention to it, and it was gone in 2 or 3 months.

Anyone have a toddler who tics?
My 15 month old constantly swats at her ear when stressed. We had her checked for any infection/irritation and doc said she was fine. He said it would likely go away on its own, it's just how she sooths herself from the frustration.

Re: Anyone have a toddler who tics?
My husband does the blinking. My son just started doing something with his eyes a few months ago. But he doesnt blink, he opens them super wide for a second or two. I brought it up at the dr when they did his eye test. He did not do so well on the eye test, but he also does not know all his alphabet so great either. Dr. recommended taking him to an optometrist to check to see if it could be his eyes and if not, to possibly try a neurologist. But I'm not worried about it. Almost everyone is DH's family has some sort of Tourettes. His cousins have SEVERE issues (combined with other disorders) that required them to live away from home and symptoms also presented themselves at much younger ages. I am actually relieved if this is the extent. I would still like to get him checked out just to know there is nothing bigger going on.

Re: Anyone have a toddler who tics?
My Dd is 5 , she just recently started pulling on her eyelids , mostly when she is tired or stressed (it started about a mont ago, around the time my DS was born) She says her eyes are bothering her but we saw an eye specialist and he says she is fine, he and the ped think it's just a nervous tic which will go away on its own, but they suggested we take her to a neurologist if it doesn't stop after 3 months or so, or gets worse. It has only been a month but I made an appt with a specialist , going in Dec, she specializes in tic disorders , so we'll see. Hoping by then she'll stop and we won't have to go

Re: Anyone have a toddler who tics?
my husband has a few different tics - twitches in his face, nose and tensing of his hand...
our son - when he was younger (he's now 4 1/2) used to do them as well, kinda 'mimicking' daddy, not in a bad way - just being cute - and doing what daddy does...
part of it could be that...so don't panic just yet - but keep an eye on it.
