Sounds crazy but I've read and heard from many different parents that the earlier they put their child to bed, the longer they slept. 10-11 is way too late IMO for such a young baby... If you don't work the next day, I'd try a earlier bedtime and see what that gives you. I was putting dd to sleep at like 11pm for the longest time and I moved her bedtime to 8 pretty much instantly and saw a big difference... She now sleeps 8pm to 5-6am.

I agree. I would put him to be when he is tired. 8 month old DD goes to bed at 8pm and sleeps until 7:30-8am. Sleep begets sleep!

ITA If my DS doesnt take a morning nap he usually doesnt sleep all day. We're very lucky that at night he sleeps no matter what but i do think sleep = sleep.

Totally. We were putting LO to bed at 9/930 and we would usually get to 3:30am... once we started putting him to bed at 730ish-- we get 9/10 hour nights.

My DS sleeps the same mo matter what time he goes to bed.
He starts getting sleepy between 8-9. He will sometimes wake up and others not. Going to bed later did nothing bhe would still wake.

sleeps begets sleep. My DS goes in around 9 pm and most mornings will sleep until 8-9 am. It's his schedule for now.
When he wakes up at 4 am, is he crying? Is he in his own room? I found that if they woke at night and I knew they weren't hungry, I gave the 2 minute rule. I would wait and see if they got themselves back to sleep. I didn't go in. It may seem like a long time at 4 am, but they eventually learn to get back to sleep.

Agreed!!! I always let dd stir for a bit before deciding okay, it's time to go in. Most of the time she puts herself back to sleep and so can I it could just be he has trouble transitioning into another stage of sleep

Many kids need to eat every 2 hr, 3 hrs whatever. Don't go by a schedule. Until they were 2 my kids were in bed and sleeping by 6:45 PM. And slept until at least 7-8AM. They need lots of sleep as babies.

I totally agree.
I just checked my old threads and when #2 was 3 months old, he was going to bed at 7:30 the latest. At 3 months he was sleeping through the night and sleeping from 7:30am-5:30am. Then every hour and a half of awake time he'd take a nap during the day.
The theory of keeping them up later never works. For us, keeping them up later made them wake up VERY early.
