Science Diet
I have been giving my kitty Science Diet, indoor for her whole life (she is 4) but recently i have been looking into the ingredients, and the #1 is chicken meal? WTF
My vet says science diet is the best, why would they say that when there is nothing natural in it?
Are there any good, natural cat foods? I feel like a terrible mother right now!

Re: Science Diet
I made a post about this a few days ago.. The crap I was feeding them had corn meal as the main ingredient!! If you feel like the worst mom right now, I feel like the worst mom x 10 It really is so confusing!

Re: Science Diet
Well, I did a search at Target because the Petco/Petsmart foods were just so $$$ .. and I got them Purina One Beyond, but someone commented how it doesn't have good ingredients either.
Anyway, I went to my vet today because Penny peed with blood in it. She has been having this problem on and off for a year and been treated with antibioitics but they don't seem to be helping so she's on a medication for life now and should be fine . My vet said the brands at Petco/Petsmart are worth the extra money if they help her peeing problem. He suggested any of the higher end brands as long as they specify that it's good for urinary health. I'm going to Petco tomorrow.
eta: Changing food isn't hard as long as you add in the new food gradually. Your cat will adjust!! Just make sure to mix in a little bit at a time and do it slowly to avoid an upset stomach.

Re: Science Diet
lots of for your cat!!!!
I am willing to spend the money if it means she is eating actual food! I think i will take a trip to petco and spend a little while reading some labels.

Does your vet sell it? If I felt he or she was dead wrong about that, I might wonder what else I should be worrying about with how they care for my animal.
I ask a lot of questions when I don't understand something but I don't expect my vet to be an expert on all animal care. Like behavioral training, there are people out there who specialize in this, and know more than the average vet does.
There are pet food websites that give ratings but more importantly, tell you what got them the rating they did. It's an eye opener for most mainstream foods, and how much filler and crap is in them. Once you know what to look for, then you can decide what's best for your animal and your budget.

that is a very good question. i know they feed the cats science diet when they are there (getting fixed, etc), but they have never tried to sell me, so i am not sure. Thank you very much for the links!
