when did your dc have their first eye checkup?
was reading about Infantsee on babycenter and was curious bc they suggested an eye test betw 6mo-12mo?

when did your dc have their first eye checkup?
DS had an eye test at the Dr at 10 months. I took DS for a separate eye exam at 13 months because the Dr and I had concerns that we noticed before the exam at 10 months.

We took our son at 3 1/2 ~ my hubby and I were there getting our eyes examined and the Dr wanted to know when we were bringing our son ~ I said when should we bring him in and the Dr said soon he is a little late in coming in for the first time. You can start bringing them in after 6 months or so ~ I was shocked being so young. (unless there is a problem or concern) Shortly after that we brought him in.

The pediatrician did an eye exam at 10 months and then referred us to a pediatric ophthalmologist because it came back that she had a difference in one eye.
We not go to the ophthalmologist once every 6 months.

I don't think DS has ever had an eye exam and he is 4. I vaguely remember him looking at pictures of shapes and having to identify them at some appointment. Maybe it was his 3 year well?

I thinkat 15 months they did an eye scan in the ped's office for a check up. We were referred to an opthamologist so we went. My other DD always had the scans as well, but was never referred so we took her for a full check at 5.

Our pediatrician did a vision screening at 12months and then referred us to a pediatric ophthalmologist because it came back that she had a difference in refraction in one eye ( one eye was weaker than the other).
She started wearing glasses at 26 months to hopefully correct the problem and prevent 'lazy eye'.

I haven't had one other than the basic one at the ped. My DDs' gets a screening at both their preschool and at kindergarten. They will tell you if there is a possible issue that needs further testing at a ped optho.

Same for us. We take her to Long Island Pediatric Opthamology in Plainview. Since her first appointment at 10 months we have been going back every three months to monitor for any changes. My DD is now almost 19 months.

4yr visit. No earlier. We never had any concerns though. She can and will point out an airplane in the sky far far away before WE see it! She sees more stars than I do. I think she may have SOME near side issues because lately she'll count all my eyes (all like 4 to six of them) but they didnt test her until 4 and she passed with flying colors.
Just like our eye chart but with shapes and she covered one eye and then the other (well I covered LOL)
