Hi
I'm unsure about getting my ds the flu shot. He's 1. What did you do and how old is your dc?
Thanks

Re: Flu Shot

Thank u none of your babies got a reaction right? My dr said he wouldn't get one since its not a live virus in the shot.

Ditto

Not for her and not for us.

She's 4

To be fair, she and I both got the Swine Flu last year. (or was it the year before??) And it wasn't that bad. We I lost like 3 days of work. Its the first time I've been sick with anything flu like in nearly 2 decades. Still not enough motivation for me to get those shots. Ever.

For her.. I'm actually GLAD she got it. very glad. She fought it off without any meds at all (doc's recommedation because they misdiagnosed her then it was too late) so she built up her own antibodies and fought that sucker off herself. Those antibodies are in her body now. Her own unique chem. Since she got the monster of flus as her first flu, I hope her body is now better armed. Naturally formed.

Re: Flu Shot

ds will be getting the flu shot when he is old enough. Just about January for us. 1. he isin daycare, 2. my step son is in high school-so he is exposed, 3. i work in a hospital. due to exposures he will get it.

Keep in mind the flu is ever changing.

Re: Flu Shot

Both my kids have been getting it since they could (last year DS was under 6 months so they suggested everyone else get it instead). No reaction.

normally i never get it and i dont love it at all...
however last winter DD was a preemie so as soon as she was old enough she got the flu shot and DH and I got it as well.
this year i was on the fence but late this summer we all got sick with very bad colds that lasted almost a week. i dont believe these colds were anywhere near as bad as the flu - and all three of us were miserable. so if i can avoid that with a flu shot, i absolutely will. last year she got a slight fever after the first shot. this year she got bad diaper rash but that's it. to me, the benefits outweigh the negatives by a lot so all three of us got it last week. she's 16m.

This is the first year that I gave it to my ds (he's 3). Normally I don't do it, but he was starting nursery school & I have an infant at home...I didn't want him to bring anything home.

Re: Flu Shot

I'm on the fence about it. I never thought about getting it for myself so I don't know if I want her to get it.
It's helpful to read everyone's opinions, after I look into it a little I decide.
If her ped strongly recommends it then I probably will.
