Does anyone have a lot of trouble buying gifts for a close in age younger sibling?

Ds2 is about to turn one and I am so strapped for gift ideas bc of the ten zillion hand me down clothes and toys.

Not really because I tend to buy things that they could always use "more" of, like books, art supplies (hard for a 1 yr old though), DVDs, etc.

I find myself buying DD the girly version of things they fight over that are originally DS' lol. Leappad, magnadoodle, little people etc. I also do what LB said with the books, art stuff, or things they both want/need - ie. Umbrellas/rainboots, personalized stuff

Thx ladies. Good ideas, keep em coming, lol. Tbh even with my ds1 I need to switch from wants to needs. Sometimes I feel so disgusted by the quantity of toys in my house, 90% of which are never played with.
