7 week old sleep schedule

DD will be 7 weeks on Sun.

I begin her bedtime routine after her early evening feeding...so she's ready for bed about 7:30.

She sleeps in her crib & has been consistently sleeping an average of 7 hrs (about 8 hours between feedings) at a time at night...however, she doesn't wake up to feed after I "put her to bed". Meaning she sleeps straight thru until about 2 am.

1 - I know you're not supposed to wake a sleeping baby, but should I try dream feeding at about 10/11 so then she will sleep all the way until morning?

2 - Or should I hold off on the bedtime routine & make her nap in her RnP..feed her when she wakes up & then do the bedtime routine?

Re: 7 week old sleep schedule

At 7w the sleep schedule was "pray I got some sleep" lol

But to answer your question, I never did dream feed, I never woke a sleeping baby.
DS1 was like your child and started STTN at 7w going from 10pm-5am. I started our routine late and then as he got older and more consistent moved bedtime up. But at hte time with DS1 I was a FTWM (went back to work at 12w) so I was aiming for a 9pm ish bedtime. By the time I went back to work DS was going 9pm-7am regularly (he never really slept more than 10 hours straight - and he is now nearly 5yo)
DS2 I started a bedtime routine around 3m at 8pm but it took a LONG time until he STTN so I wont share that story! lol

Personally I think everything you are doing is fine, and I woudl just continue with it! She will start stretching that 2am to 2:30 then 3 etc. Give her a few more weeks and I bet she will be STTN even more so!

When she wakes at 2 does she back down easily after eating? As long as she goes back down I wouldn't change anything. Your aim is to get her to feed later. I did dreamfeedings for a few weeks around 2 months and now at 5 months DD wakes between 10 and 12 for a feeding even though she used to wake later. I wouldn't mess with anything if I were you. Sounds like you're doing great!

My DD doesn't dream feed well so we have been letting her sleep which has been about 6 hours. When we feed her about 2am she does go back to sleep no problem. She will wake up about 4 hours later for her next feeding and just be up for the day.

DITTO! DD would be just be starting her "witching hours" around then.

Sounds like you've got a good sleeper on your hands. Say a prayer of thanks. Chat Icon

What kind of bedtime routine do you have at 7wks?

DS is 2 months. He was falling asleep in his swing any where between 7 - 9pm. We would dream feed about 11pm then put him in the RNP. He would wake up about 2 or 3am and I would dream feed again then put him back down in his RNP. His next feeding was about 5:30 or 6:30am and then he was up for the morning until his first nap of the day at about 9am. I didnt realize there should be a bedtime routine this early!

With DS he was in bed by 8:30pm and would sleep through 5:30am, feed and go back down until 9am...it was a dream. DS#2 is a fuss ball and I'm EBF so he is up every 2-3 hours, although last night ne went down at 10pm after a bath and feeding and slept until 2am in his swing. I hope this is the beginning of longer stretches.

I would wake her up for an 11 o'clock feeding for a few nights and see if that makes a difference.
