winter coat for 1 y/o
Where can i get a good winter coat for my almost 1 y/o?
Also, I'm confused what to do about the size...he will be 1 in January, and the coats i've seen are either 9-12 mths or 12-18 mths. 12-18 is HUGE and would not fit him now or the next couple of months but i'm worried he will grow out of the 9 - 12? i dont want to get stuck buying 2 coats!!!

winter coat for 1 y/o
I bought a coat from Sears last year after they went on sale. (Beginning of December maybe) up to the I was using a thicker fleece for him. He was wearing 12-18 month clothes, I bought an 18-24 month coat that might still fit him this year (he's wearing 24 month clothes.) The length didn't bother me, and I just rolled up the ends of the sleeves a little. He only used it a few times, for the most part I used the fleece throughout the winter.
Please remember NOT to put your child in a carseat with a heavy thick winter coat on. It will not allow for proper placement and alignment of the straps. It will also not allow the straps to be as tight as they need to be.

Re: winter coat for 1 y/o
DS will be 12 months next month. I bought him size 12-18 months. He is a peanut (size 9-12 months clothing is a little big on him right now) but i figure he'll be wearing layers and the winter doesn't end until he's 15 months. I bought a coat with a removable fleece lining. I plan to use the fleece coat in the carseat with a blanket (if needed) and the combination fleece with outer part if he is out in the stroller or outside.

Target has great 3in 1 coats that got us through the whole year last year around 30.00
I would try it on him and see how they run.

Definitely do somethig thin but warm- like a 3 in 1 or the Lands End Squall. Last year I got my DD a big puffy coat and she couldn't wear it in the car seat. What a waste!

I got her two winter jackets from the GAP. She will be one at the end of the month and I got her 12-18mths. I felt like the 18-24 would be huge

I know the one from Children's Place is. It just has to be thin enough for the straps to fit snug on them.

The inside alone typically is but the outside and together typically is not. Just because the straps feel snug with a coat they might not be tight enough. Here's an easy step by step to see how much "give" the jacket adds which could possibly make the straps too loose in the event of an accident.
1. Put coat on child and secure child in car seat. Adjust the straps to what you feel is tight enough for travel.
2. WITHOUT ADJUSTING THE STRAPS remove the child from the carseat and remove the coat.
3. WITHOUT ADJUSTING THE STRAPS resecure the child in the carseat without the coat.
4. Note how much room is in between the child and straps.
Besides removing the coat theres an alternative way to put the harness on that reduces the extra room. theres a video on you tube about it.
