Babysitter quit, now what?
To make a long story short our babysitter who we had for a year quit through text yesterday. Turns out she is very immature and disrespectful. Anyway, we only need someone two hours a day, 1:30-3:30 and occasionally a little longer.
I'm afraid if we begin to search again, which wasn't easy, we are going to find the same type of person, young and irresponsible. My daughter is extrememly shy and doesn't do well with strangers which makes this more difficult. I was thinking of putting into some type of afternoon school, but not sure how that will work out.
Sorry for the long post, just venting. I find this stressful.

Why don't you put a call into cw post or hofstra. There might be some education students that are looking for cash and those hours might be good.

we had this exact situation happen to us, right down to the text message (on a Saturday night no less). SO RUDE! We had a similar situation where we only needed a couple hours 3 days a week, plus 2 full days.
Since I was just coming back from maternity leave, I had no time to take off, so DH had to take a couple days. We ended up putting an ad on craigslist and found a wonderful sitter that way. We also put them into day care for the 2 full days we needed.
I would try sittercity, care.com, the colleges even put an ad on craigslist and hopefully find a student or even a mom looking for a few extra $$$$

Thank you for your replies. Didn't get much searching done yet. We found the original sitter on sittercity.com. I think I'm just a little apprehensive at this point, but will have to make a decision very soon.

Do you know anyone who has a nanny that might want to do a share? People seem to be doing that a lot in my neighborhood.

Do you need someone to come to you or would you be willing to drop her off. I know someone who uses and in home babysitter in bethpage (I think thats the location)..I could get the info for you if that could work....

i would consider posting an ad on craigslist. i have a friend who at one point was looking for babysitting jobs like you need. Not sure if she still is looking but if she is i could pass the info along.
