Nanny question
For those of you that have a nanny/babysitter how do you work out vacation time? Do they take it when you take it, do you pay them?

One week she takes when we take ours and one week she selects. She gets paid for vacation, sick days and holidays. We don't pay hourly, she gets a salary so this set up works for us.

this is how we do it as well. We just ask that she not make the week she picks a couple of weeks in the year where it is really hard for me to be home from work.

I pay weekly salary, assuming a 40 hour work week. I pay her 52 weeks a year, and she takes a week for vacation (paid). Since she almost always works 50 hours a week, it works out fine, as she also has off more time when I'm home on vacation (a few weeks, particularly around e holidays).

all holidays I am off from work and the jewish holidays. Works out to around 9 regular holiday days a year and a few other days.

We pay our babysitter $20 per hour. She gets 2 weeks paid vacation- $500 each week. Keep in mind, we only need her noon til 5 and NOT every day. Some weeks only 2 days and some weeks 4 days. Also she does sometimes work Sundays. She is worth every cent!
