wearing PJs outside is NEVER ok - kids or adults.

Ditto for me, including the doctor.

I don't understand how hard it is to throw on a pair of sweats or jeans or shorts when it is warmer out for anyone.

Pajamas, to me, are for sleeping only. I think it all comes down to laziness and not wanting to fight with your kids about changing. To me, this is a battle I will pick so they won't be adults running to 7-11 in their pajamas too.

So other mothers are "lazy" if it is a battle they choose not to pick? Maybe it wasn't a battle to begin with, but they just let it be because to them it is not a big deal?

Meh...it wouldn't be a battle if they were taught from the time they are little that when you go out of the house, you get dressed.
Seems like parents use that "pick your battles" thing a lot now. Do you ever remember kids or adults wearing pjs out years ago? People have gotten lazier and sloppier and just don't care anymore about their appearances when they are out in public.

My point was, the few time I have let my DC out like that, had I asked him to change, it would not have been a battle. Therefore, I was not "being lazy and picking my battles". I just didn't see the harm in it, and he picked out his outfit and it made him happy. End of story. To classify me or other mothers as "lazy" for this, or for choosing to "pick their battles" is just downright ridiculous and so judgmental.

Good lord, what is wrong with people.

I honestly can't believe anyone cares.

Today I took my 14 mo. old into the deli with me...in pajamas. If people find that horrifying, they can suck it!

I agree. This is totallly ridiculous. If you don't like seeing me or my DD in pj's- don't look!!!!!!!!

Honestly you don't know anyone else's situation- people shouldnt judge.

Seriously, no one is talking about a one-year-old here. A baby in pajamas is fine. Everyone knows that's fine.

A six year old in pajamas? Eh - I'd probably think that that's a fight the mom didn't want to have that morning. I'd like to think that I'd insist that my young daughter wear actual clothing outside, especially to school, but I haven't been there yet so I can't really judge.

My high school students coming to school in pajama pants? It's a "look." They think it's cool for some reason. I think it looks lazy and sloppy. It's all about what image of yourself you want to project to the world. Wearing pajamas instead of clothes tells the world that you are more interested in being comfortable than in, you know, wearing actual clothing. If you don't care that people think you look lazy and sloppy and that 4-year-olds will openly laugh at you in Target, then go for it.

This is actually an inside joke in my house. However I feel exactly like you. Pajamas are not to be work out of the house. And I SMH when I see adults wearing them. I don't get it

I NEVER understood adults wear PJ's outside.

Never.

I agree, kids I can pass, adults no

Kids ok but, going to the laundry mat you see alot of adults wear PJs, Im guessing cause they ran out of clothesChat Icon

I don't wear yoga pants to work. But if I wear them to Target, do you really think I give a sh*t what the cashier there thinks of me? Ummmm no.

And if my 4 yr old child ever pointed and laughed at someone for that, she would get a talking to. Maybe this child's parents don't have a ton of money. Maybe they don't have a ton of clothes and they haven't gotten to the laundromat. Maybe she spilled on herself and he only spare clothes in the car were pajamas. Who knows. But to make assumptions and ridicule someone is certainly nothing to teach your kids.

Seriously, some of these comments in here are out of control. We're talking about friggin pajama's and people are so judgemental!

A person is LAZY if their child is in their pajama's outside of the house?

Get over yourself and focus on your own situation. You never know the reason behind anything.

I never wear sweats as pajamas. I consider sweats something I go to the gym with or hang out in. My pajamas are for sleeping.

Just curious, am I just old-fashioned...

DH has taken DD to the bagel place on Sunday mornings while she is in her PJs. Aside from that- I wouldn't do it.

Re: Just curious, am I just old-fashioned...

we used to dress Luce in pj's all the time at night if we were going out on the chance he'd fall asleep in the car. you know, like "change me and I will sleep" hahaha

now, I don't remember the last time I did that. for my own reasons I too would fight that battle in my house but you could also spot him in pj's on a sick day.

But I do make sure to buy him super cute pajamas so I am hoping that earns us points someplace Chat Icon

ETA" adults in PJ's EVER is unacceptable.

ETA: I think it could be cultural to a certain extent. my FIL would probably have an actual coronary if he saw my son in public in pajamas. and he'd probably at least expect them to be ironed. Chat Icon Chat Icon

my mid-thirties sister has worn pajamas to family functions. Chat Icon

but as a general rule, we rise, shine and shower before we step outdoors in my house, so a clothing change would be part of that set up.
