Is it lame to hand out non-candy?
I was thinking of making halloween bags filled with pretzels, stickers, play doh and little toys.
Is that totally lame?

I would love it for my DD too, but you may want to have another option for the older kids- like teenagers

LOL you see my thread on all the non-candy options? The teens in my area LOVED pretzels and ironically they were also pretty happy with glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces...*shrug*

Re: Is it lame to hand out non-candy?
The teenagers that came to our house last year LOVED the play-doh we handed out. They were calling their friends to come to our house to get some. The little kids wanted the candy that we gave out.
So, yes, I think it's ok.

I don't think it's lame at all based on what you're thinking of doing instead. Also, I wouldn't worry about the teens either. If they can still have fun trick or treating they'll figure out how to have fun with stickers and play doh. As a high school teacher, trust me, they'll enjoy that stuff!

Re: Is it lame to hand out non-candy?
As long as the food is in its sealed original package I think that's cute. As other posters mentioned though, we get a good number of older kids/teens that would not be thrilled with the non-food items. I think any age could enjoy pretzels or popcorn though.

Re: Is it lame to hand out non-candy?
We usually give out play-doh which even the teens like. My DS has multiple food allergies and I refuse to buy anything that he can't use/eat himself.
