Re: Law of Attraction

Yes, I practice the law of attraction and have been for about 6 years. I even teach it in a Very subtle way to my clients.
I started by reading a lot of books, really trying to understand the language the universe recognizes and changing my communication skills. I know some people hate the secret but it really has a great user friendly intro to the law of attraction. Some of the other books are hard o digest if you don't already believe in it in my opinion.

Then I made a vision board with DH and that was when I realized it really works. Within 6 months I had to redo the vision board because we accomplished about 80% of it! Now we have a vision board at all times because I know we can't hit a target we can't see.

My thought process doesn't make negative energy sucker people feel comfortable. Im no longer friends with some of those people now and I don't miss the drama. I no longer work at a place I thought I loved but it was actually draining all of m energy and stealing my life. I took a job that i attracted in my tiny town for much less money but it was the best thing I ever did. It allowed me to have the
time to focus on my consulting firm which is now thriving.
The only thing about the law of attraction that is frustrating is you can only control yourself, I've been trying to get my kids to use it.
If you have any other questions about it, ask away!

Re: Law of Attraction

I haven't read up a whole lot on it, however, in general, if you think about it, a lot of it really has to do with changing your attitude about life in general.

If you are positive, you tend to attract positive.

If you put a lot of effort into things, that effort tends to pay off. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but eventually.

I have the book the Secret somewhere in my house, but have to admit, I've only leafed through it once a long time ago. Chat Icon

I also have to say that overall, I'm a little skeptical about people who have said they've hit these huge finanical windfalls because "The Secret works".

If there's something to it though, it can't help to follow it, right? Chat Icon

This is awesome! I've read 2 of the popular books on it (not the Secret, as this came after). One is by Hicks (based on Abraham teachings) and the other is more of a "workbook" to learn how to journal.

I did use it to get the current job I had and it was quite simple. I am now trying it again in a couple of areas in my life. My favorite tool so far (that I've taped on my mirror) is
1. Know what I want
2. Believe It (will happen)
3. Expect It (will happen)
4. Let it Go

I also visualize the things that I want. And smile at those images Chat Icon I tell myself that I'm in the process of (insert whatever I want to achieve) and I'm happy knowing that this will happen soon. It's all about the positive feelings that we associate with something.

If I get disappointed about something, I am aware that this is something that I DO NOT want and turn my focus to the things that I do want.

These are some of the simple techniquest I've used as a beginner.

Re: Law of Attraction

Also just out of curiousity, a lot of the people again who boast about hitting it big financially, wouldn't a lot of that have to do with the amount of books they sold, public speaking engagements, etc.?

I don't know in general how much good authors could make a year, but I've followed a few bloggers who are into this and if you read their stories, many of them came from basically nothing, but now are doing pretty well and I suspect it has to do with this reason.

I'm not trying to be snarky.........I really am just curious.

I get what you're saying but in the same sense, I think they used the tools that launched attraction and then slowly reaped the awards and then hit it big.

It's usually not overnight and it does include some work on your part.

It has helped me career wise and in my other endeavors. I definately think that once you see some small reward, your outlook changes and it moves your forward and not give up.

I have spoken to professionals who have said to me, "ever notice that the people who always complain and moan always seem to have bad things happen to them? They whine about being in a state of perpetual bad luck and it seems they do live in negative situations and that the ba luck keeps occurring?' (I'm paraphrasing)

I realized its kind of true.

There are many tools out there. It's very interesting.

I completely agree and try my best to practice the basic principles but it's difficult sometimes. I have a dear friend who is very close with Esther and the late Jerry. She is a full on beleiver and they follow Abraham Hicks closely as well as practice their own forms (something called psyche, I think?)
A few years back, I was waiting to hear on a promotion and she talked me through it. I got the promotion and she has used that as my example ever since. It has worked for me more than once!

I used to be on the Abraham Hicks mailing list to get their daily emails but I cancelled it because it was maybe too advanced for me. But if you're into that, I recommend getting them!

Re: Law of Attraction

LOA seems really simple.. but it can be really tricky.

I was introduced to LOA when I was pregnant with my first child. It’s a lot so I won’t bore you with the details.. but it helped me. It also helped years later when I was hanging by a thread emotionally and financially. My relationship was in a bad condition and I was literally living hand to mouth, UEI check to UEI check. I had EVERY reason to feel desperate and frightened and negative about life in general. I was literally on my knees one day – begging for the mercy of death or an answer to the spiraling challenges that were choking me daily. Suddenly my eyes fell on a book that I’d shoved under my bed who knows how long before. It was A Course In Miracles. I hated the book when I skimmed it the first time – basically I had expected it to reassure me that if I followed whatever simple steps, I would suddenly have all of my wishes. Turned out that the aim was to get me to change the way I looked at life and ultimately be in a space where I lived in grace and gratitude for everything. I picked the book up again and opened it to a page that spoke to the idea that Fear is the opposite of Love, the antithesis of true faith. I took a deep breath, dried my tears and spent the next hour just listing all the things I was grateful for. I felt so much better… even though at the time my situation had not improved. Less than 4 years later I was debt free, living in the school district that I wanted in a home with the backyard, deck and swing set I’d concentrated on getting. Things started improving the SECOND I changed my mindset and kept my heart focused on gratitude and blessings rather than fear and lack. I backslid A LOT.. but there was always some forward momentum.

The challenge is that it takes CONSTANT practice. And having a positive mindset is not a guarantee that bad ish will not happen ever again. It’s about learning to deal with the stuff that comes to you, recognizing the lessons in the pain and focusing on the path out of the mire. And you don’t just manifest change with thought.. you have to listen to yourself, pay attention to your inner wisdom and ACT. Thoughts become things.. but action is a catalyst. That’s why meditation and vision boards are helpful. Vision boards remind you of your goal constantly – help guide you to the steps you need to take in order to make things a reality. Meditation helps to quiet all the noise – the voices that say you can’t. It allows you the space to ask what you need to do.. and hear a real answer. You always have the real answer somewhere.

We live in a very cynical world where judging EVERYTHING and EVERYONE is in fashion. This makes the practice of positivity more difficult than it maybe should be. People roll their eyes and cluck their tongues at the idea that being positive can change things inside or out.. and sarcasm and snark is fun to engage in. I am not the world’s greatest LOA practitioner.. I keep a daily gratitude journal and I every single day I have my kids and husband name at least 5 things that they were grateful for that day so that they can keep focused on blessings. But despite this, I STILL have moments – days, weeks and even MONTHS of nagging anxiety and fear. That dread feeling in the pit of my stomach when I recognize Christmas is 12 weeks away and my bank balance is shrinking, or the headache I feel when Rob calls to tell me the cesspool is clogged.. again or that the car won’t turn over, etc.. It’s not easy to move your mind from the sometimes ****** reality to the fabulous possibilities of the future.

Two things really help. One is the old acronym F.E.A.R. = Forgetting Everything is All Right. The other is Wayne Dyer’s latest exposition on the words “I AM” – the realization that I create what and who I am every time I use the words “I am” I try to say “I am SOMETHING POSITIVE” instead of anything negative… like “I am improving my finances” instead of “I am poor”.

Sorry for the long winded response!

I agree with you 1000% about the mindset thing.

I see it constantly.

A bad attitude is also super contagious.

It's like a wildfire, if not kept in check.

Yes one of the books I have talks about "negative nellys". I think the biggest learning curve for me is redirecting my "negative" thoughts and turning them into positive ones. Now, when I speak to friends that are venting and complaining a lot I say "well what do you want then"? Like I said, focus onw what you DO want instead of what we DONT. That's a basic principal.

Re: Law of Attraction

I'm a fan of Wayne Dyer. Excuses Be Gone is a book I often go back to.

For me it's more about the practicing of pushing away negativity and allowing myself to push forward.

You can't force someone else to do it. The negativity is a hard drug to get off of.

END QUOTE- sorry I messed that up somehow.

Here's a minor example of it working for me:

This weekend was my baby shower. The friends I posted about above live in CA and they flew out for the shower. On the day of the shower, she asked me if my cribs came in, and that she wanted to come over the day after the shower to help set up the nursery.
I told her that we just got around to ordering the cribs a few days ago and they wouldnt be in for another 2 weeks.
She seemed so disappointed and I felt bad, but we decided she'd still come in to help organize the gifts I got.

The day after my shower, she was getting ready to drive to my house and I got the notification that the cribs were in early! (thank you walmart). She went with her contractor husband, picked them up, brought them to my apartment and my and her DH put them together (TWO graco cribs) in ONE HOUR!

We were so thrilled that she was able to be a part of this whole weekend of festivities AND help set up the nursery! What are the chances of me getting the notification 1/2 hour before her leaving the house, being with her hubby. Everything was aligned!
