Just a fever?

So random... Yesterday DS Spiked a fever - 104.0 rectal - and had no other signs of being sick. Other than the mushy sleepy neediness that comes with a fever. Gave him Tylenol and Motrin and at went away. He felt a little warm today and I gave him some Motrin right away. He's been fine all day. What gives? Just curious is anyone has had Ny experience with anything like this. DS is 13 mos BTW.

104 is high! He is probably brewing something. Maybe an ear infection or Coxsackie. DS had the same thing in July and 3 days later was diagnosed with a mild case of Coxsackie. I would call the pedi.

2 weeks ago, DS had a high fever. Next day he was fine. 2 days later he had impetago. Hopefully that won't happen with you and it is just a fever!

Ds is 13 mths too. Last weekend he had a fever of 103 with no other symptoms. We took him to the ped on Monday & everything checked out fine. The ped said it's probably a virus maybe roseola. He said if it was roseola he would break the fever & then get a rash. Wouldn't you know it he broke his fever on Tuesday & Wednesday broke out with a rash on his belly & back. Thursday it was gone.

Now I'm going to be watching him extra close the next few days. I won't be taking him to the ped unless its serious... I've learned that they really can't do anything for you unless it's bacterial (which it usually isn't and none of the above are). Plus, I'm a nurse, so I have about of insight. Crossing my fingers it's nothing serious, although roseola seems to be the lesser of the evils.

I posted something similar a few days ago. Last Sunday DS spiked a 102.6 fever with no other symptoms. Took him to the ped the next day and everything checked out ok (throat, ears.) It was later that day that he started with the cough/congestion/runny nose. Its just a cold, but I thought it was weird the fever came before the other, more obvious, symptoms.

His fever lasted about 24 hrs, btw.

The same thing happened to my two year old! I was so surprised. He had 102 fever. I have him Tylenol and he was back to normal the next day. He was definitely not himself the day of his fever, but the following day he was running, jumping, and climbing. Very strange.

DS had something like that last week. Monday evening he felt warm during dinner. He wasn't acting at all different. We checked his temp and it was around 100. That night he did wake up crying and we could not console him (night terror maybe...and also was coughing.). We brought him in bed with us and he slept. He still had a temp but I don't think it ever went much over 101.5. He also kept saying his teeth hurt. (but, he does make a lot of stuff up so I'm not sure if that was real or not. )
Tuesday I kept him home - temp was around 99-100. He was mostly himself...though I guess not eating as much. That night he started with a runny nose but fever was all gone.
Thursday we had his 3 year check up. The doctor couldn't find anything to explain any of it.
By Friday, really back to normal. I just don't get it.

My 20 month old DS woke up crying with a fever of 102 last night. Today he was a little out of it and didn't eat too much, but no other symptoms and fever was gone.

So far, so good. It was Friday night he spiked the temp, Saturday was a touch warm, and nothing since! At times I feel like he has a touch of congestion, but even that feels like a stretch. So wired!
