Lending/Giving used baby items
If you're done having kids, what's your policy on passing along used baby items? Do you want it back (to pass along to other friends & family) or is it theirs to do with as they wish?
DH and I are, apparently, on opposite sides of this argument, so I'm wondering what most people think. In this case, it's baby clothes and bigger items, too.

We're trying for DC #2 right now so I expect that all of the stuff that I lent out earlier be returned. Once we're completely done I'll give it away to whoever will take it and demand that they don't bring it anywhere near my house in the future.

If you are done having kids, and you give someone your stuff that you are done with, why the heck would they ever think to give it back? Unless you specifically say you want it back, I think most people would assume that when you give it to them, it is theirs to do as they see fit.

Once I give the stuff away, I would not expect it back. Or else, I wouldn't have given it away.

Lending/Giving used baby items
I only lend/lent items that I don't want back. A close friend lent me items that she did want back, and she told me so.
When I had my first child, a friend of my parents gave me a whole bunch of baby items, never said anything about wanting them back. When I was done with them, I donated them. Well, she FLIPPED OUT. Apparently she had wanted them back. Since then, I always ask.

Even if I "lend" something, I know chances are, I may not get it back. No telling how many books people borrowed" from me and never returned. Clothes too.
That is why I am not lending anything of LO's because I expect to have one more child. However, once I am DONE with the stuff, take what you want and don't bring it back!

if i am done having kids and give something to someone....i do not expect it back. what they do with it when they are done is up to them.
i do not loan anything to anyone if it is something i want back or plan on passing along to a family member in the future bc there is a chance i will never get it back again or it will not be in the same/good condition.

If I give it to you, it is yours. Someone once passed down clothes to me and said to give them back when he grew out of them. I was too afraid to use them for fear that they would get ruined or I would forget what was given.

ITA! I would never give something to someone and expect to have it return to me. Especially when it comes to baby items.

I agree
THIS. I am done having kids and starting to give stuff away but I will keep my favorite clothes for sentimental reasons.
