Tylenol Help!
DD has her first fever, after her 3-month shots yesterday. I tried giving her Tylenol almost 2 hours ago, and while giving it, she threw up a ton of her bottle, and presumably, the Tylenol. We gave the other half of the dose about 10 minutes later, and she spit out about half of THAT. Do we still have to wait the 4 hours to give her more Tylenol, even though we know she didn't get most of it the first time? The pediatrician crossed out the ibuprofen info on the medication dosing sheet, so I assume he doesn't want us using that yet. TIA!!!

Tylenol Help!
You can't give ibuprofen to an infant under 6 months. how high is her fever?? Personally i dont give anything until they are over 101. If she is close you could give her a cool bath, or put cool compresses on the back of her neck, under her arms, and on the back of her knees. this will buy you some time to get closer to the 4 hour mark.
I hope she feels better soon!! Try to get the squirter as far back in her mouth on the side (like where her back molars would come in) and push slowly. She might not gag and throw up as much.

Re: Tylenol Help!
Thanks so much. It turns out that her fever was down by the time we got home, so my post was kind of unnecessary. I do appreciate the advice though. She only had 100.3, but the first fever is nerve wracking for a new mommy!

Re: Tylenol Help!
In case you come across this in the future, I would NOT give more tylenol until the 4 hours are up. You don't want to over medicate your child. Also, no motrin until at least 6 months. HTH

It is nerve wracking, I hear you on that one!! FWIW, my dd's original ped told me that fevers are for a reason. If we always mask them with medicines it will never give the body a chance to fight what it needs to fight. He suggested i not give anything until at least 101 to give the body a chance to work through it.
I hope it was a temporary thing and it stays down & goes away now!!

Tylenol Help!
For the next time, get Fever All. I believe it is 80 mg. They are suppositoroes so your little one will not throw it up.
