Sleep need sleep advice

So sorry this may be long. My son is 14 months and he has never been a great sleeper. We have him in our room and he sleeps in a mini crib because we are restricted on space, one bedroom apartment. He used to sleep 7-8 hours stretch and then got 4 teeth at once and then got sick. So now for the last week, he was sick again and I see teeth coming in, he has been sleeping 2 1/2 to 3 hours and then up.I have always BF and when he would get up I take him to bed with me. So I am beyond tired when he is in bed with me he is restless lately and tossing and turning and so then I am up worried he will fall off the bed. Neither one of us is getting good sleep. So I was thinking that I may get him a toddler bed he has now been sleeping on a cot a daycare for naps and sleeps in my bed I am thinking he hates his crib. I dont know if its a phase I dont like to let him cry. Please any advice has anyone gone through this????

welll it seems like it's his teeth no? Can you get one of those mesh bedrails for now? I think long term he may be ready for a toddler bed. HUGS to you!
