powder formula question
this may be a silly question but i have never used powdered formula before!
1-I bought the nursery water from BRU and it has fluoride in it--is fluoride ok?
2-do you still have to heat the first bottle up even if it is room temperature (the first time i open the water??)
3-do you store the water jug in refrigerator after opening?
4-do you use the brita water too?

Re: powder formula question
No reason to use nursery water - filtered tap water or bottle water is much better. Babies don't need the flouride nor should they really have it.
Heating the bottle depends on your baby, but i wouldnt heat a room temp bottle.

Agreed. I never used nursery water. Always filtered tap and kept it at room temperature. I used to heat them to lukewarm since he preferred it that way, but it wasn't hot. Maybe 30 seconds to get the "chill" out.

Re: powder formula question
We used room temp bottled poland spring water and made each bottle as we went. It was really easy once you got the hang of it.
If we were going to be out all day, we would just pre-fill the bottles with the water, bring the powder in an air tight container and make the bottle when we needed it.

This is what we did too! I also bought a formula mixer which helps to not create so many bubbles in the formula. You can get it at BRU and BBB. Its Munchkin brand.

Re: powder formula question
I use room temp bottled water.....whatever is CHEAP. Lately it has been target or Stop n Shop brand. Both are .99 or less for a gallon. I now put the water in the frig cause DS likes cold bottles now.

Bottled water is not regulated at all whereas tap water has to go through gov't regulations. I would use a filter for tap water before using bottled water, but that's JMHO. We don't drink bottled water in our house - just water from the filtered tap.

This is what DS's ped told me. She said in a pinch she would choose Poland Spring over other bottled water.
At home I used tap water filtered through a brutal filter that I keep on the counter. DS always drank his bottles at room temperature.
Eta: fluoride at a young age is not necessary. Ds didnt start it until 18 months.

same here. i keep the water on the counter though and dd gets room temp bottles. when we are out, i either give her rtf formula or pre fill bottles with water and then just add the powder from a dispenser i bought at bbb
