DD flipped out of crib this morning. What should I do?
DD is 18 mos. The crib is on lowest setting. Each morning when she wakes, she reads her books and plays for a little bit while I get ready for work. Well today, I was RIGHT outside her door, about to go in and change her and get her ready for daycare when a heard a loud crash, then immediate hysterics. I figured she was jumping around the crib like normal and maybe hit the rails.
I walked in to find her laying flat on her back on the floor crying. Lately she's been hoisting herself/balancing with all her weight on her wrists. She must've done this and flipped right over, head first! I was so shocked to see her there! She was ok, just more frightened than anything.
What do I do? Convert to toddler bed? Hope she doesn't flip again, because she got so scared? DH wants to surround the front of crib with pillows, lol.

I would be switching to a toddler bed before she went to sleep tonight. Dd switched to a toddler bed at 18 months and did great. Good luck

I agree with AP. Not a chance I'd want to take again if I were you.

Same here. DD actually climbed into her crib, but it was only a matter of time before she figured out how to escape. She was around the same age when we transitioned her, and have had minimal problems.

Re: DD flipped out of crib this morning. What should I do?
The first time G. did that we put a feather bed on the floor outside of his crib and then he didn't get out again for a few months. Baby proof her room completely and put a gate at the door just in case.
ETA: The day I came home from the hospital w/ DS#3 the twins decided they no longer wanted to stay in their cribs so we converted to toddler beds. It did not go well for us so we switched back and got crib tents. Kids have to be ready to go to a toddler bed. Mine were not.

we put the mattress on the floor inside the crib, when that stopped working, we went to a toddler bed.

Re: DD flipped out of crib this morning. What should I do?
Take the kid OUT of the crib as soon as she wakes up.
My 2 year old is not ready to be out of the crib, but of course would be able to climb out. As soon as he waked up, he's out of crib. I wake earlier, or deal with the inconvenience of having him awake as I get ready.

I'd switch to the toddler bed ASAP. That's what I did with DD. She was a little over 2. It was a rough first few nights, but then she got used to it pretty quickly.
