Spinoff to elf on the shelf
Last year DS was only 7 months old so we didn't do much more than going to see Santa at the mall. This year, now that he will be 19 months and being that next year at this time there will be another little one in the mix, we would like to start some family traditions. What are some of your favorites? So far we are thinking of-
- baking homemade sugar cookies on christmas eve for santa
-going to NYC to see the rockefeller center tree and the macy's windows
-when DH was little, his dad read The Night Before Christmas every year to the kids before they went to bed Christmas Eve night. He wants to start that with our kids.
DH mentioned taking DS to the polar express train this year- but the closest one I could find is in Essex, CT. I guess we could make a weekend out of it and get a hotel for one night- but is it worth it?

I had started a holiday traditions thread about two years ago.........there were some nice ideas from other LIF'ers on there. I will bump it for u.
