Baby Carriers

What makes the ergo baby over $100????? That seems CRAZY to me. Does anyone have one of the less expensive carriers/slings that they are happy with?

Re: Baby Carriers

DD hated the sling I bought- she would scream every time I put her in it. I wanted to get a carrier butbwas afraid of same outcome. I bought an Infantino carrier (from buy buy baby) for $30 & DD loves it. I don't use the carrier that much- every here & there but DD likes it & I love that it was only $30!!!!!

Re: Baby Carriers

Got a great deal on Ebay on an Ergo. Less than $75 including shipping.

Google "how to spot a fake Ergo" b/c some loons try to make counterfeit ones.

eta: I also have a Baby Ktan sling. It's like a Moby but w/o all the wrapping. DD loved it. $55 at BBB, and you can use a coupon if you have them.

Re: Baby Carriers

I live in Brooklyn where we walk a lot and everyone uses a baby carrier and most of them use an ergo. I hated it with DD. I hated every single one I tried, but actually liked the bjorn more than ergo. Maybe it was just me, but I found it impossible to put on and I was always uncomfortable.

A lot of people recommended the k'tan, and I'm going to try to use that for DS. I never really wore DD, but I have a feeling that i"m going to have to wear DS in order to take care of DD - be in the playground with her, etc.

Re: Baby Carriers

I have been using the bejorn for months with my twins. I recently bought an ergo on ebay. I wanted something that could go on my back. The babies were getting in the way of me accomplishing things always being in the front. So far I love it. It also holds more weight, so I know it will last us for years. now I can also use the bejorn and ergo at the same time and carry both babies.

Last week target had the ergo for $120 and then you got a $20 GC with it. I was tempted but opted for the moby and so far I like that.

Re: Baby Carriers

About 1 month ago, i was shopping at target and saw 2 boxes of ergos marked 80.98. It also had a sticker that said online item. The cashier said that is the reason it was priced so low. Whatever the case, i scooped one up :).

Anyhow, I have the ergo and the bjorn ( and a baby ktan sling, we never used) and the ergo is way more comfortable for me and ds. He screamed everytime i put him in the bjorn. He also outgrew the height ( i believe it goes to 26 or 27 inches), by almost 4 months (he was 27 inches long at 4 months). Also at 4 months he weighed 17.5 lbs and in the bjorn he killed my back. Now at 7 months he weighs 20 lbs, is 28.75 inches long and its so much easier wearing him in the ergo. His legs go froggy style, which i like way better than when his legs wouls just hand down in the bjorn.

A lot of people I know love the bjorn for when the baby is younger and use the ergo for when they get older.

I have a friend who loves her infantino, and she said it was like 25.00.

I have the bjorn and the ergo.
The bjorn I have is the basic one... 45$ on sale. With DD weighing 20 lbs at 8 months... It hurts to keep her in it.
The ergo is so comfy and better on the kids hip and legs. The more complex bjorn that puts weight around your hips doesn't cost much less.

All in all, I've used the ergo more than the baby swing, pack and play and other higher priced stuff I bought.

Re: Baby Carriers

The Ergo is expensive but worth EVERY penny! It does feel a little strange, the way you have to put it on, at first but once you get used to it, no big deal. I have back problems, which is why I registered for the Ergo even though it was pricey. It is so comfortable, way more comfy to hold my DS in there than on my hip. And he really loves it in there. I read that it's not only more comfortable for you, but that it's much better for your baby's back than some of the other ones.

And like a previous poster said, I will use the Ergo instead of a stroller often times (i.e. shopping). There are several things we registered for that we've since wished we hadn't or wished we'd gotten something different, but this is definitely not one of them.

Love my Ergo. You can get excellent used condition on online FB swaps. Target has them cheaper. You can also look into Becos. Google ergonomic soft structured carriers.
Bjorn is a no, no IMO, but I'm not going there. lol
I have a Moby, Maya Wrap Ring Sling, Ergo, and a woven wrap. Ergo is definitely the easiest and most convenient for running around. And dad friendly ;)

Was it used? Is there any chance you have their seller info in your purchased item inventory list? TIA!

Re: Baby Carriers

I have used the bjorn in the past and loved it! i used it up until my girls could walk, so it started to get a little heavy and i contemplated getting and Ergo but never did. Now that i'm expecting DS in late Oct I'm searching out the deals on the ERGO because from friends who use it they say it is much better on your back than the bjorn.
