Children's Allergy Medications

Which one do you use for your 2+ year old child? Why do you like it? Does it work better then others in your opinion?

Or Children's Zyrtec?
My computer jumped the gun before I had a chance to finish the poll!!!

Re: Children's Allergy Medications

DS has really bad seasonal allergies. We have always used Children's Zyrtec. That is what our ped has always recommended.

Re: Children's Allergy Medications

We were using Childrens Zyrtec but then DS decided he didn't want to drink the liquid anymore.

Our ped said Claritin was good too so I found the 5mg in the redi-tabs. They disolve right away and he has no issues taking it. Just make sure they're the 5mg and not 10 (they sell both)

Re: Children's Allergy Medications

My DDs' allergist and their ped said zyrtec was the best followed by allegra and lastly clartin. Zyrtec made my old DD weepy, hyper and very off. We use allegra for both girls and it seems to work well. It works even better if you use it a few days in a row. Clartin was okay but didn't do as much.

If that doesn't work or makes him "funny" (several other people I know mentioned it made their kids weepy, or hyper or just off) try the allega. Zyrtec is supposed to be the best of the group.

Re: Children's Allergy Medications

Let me know how the zyrtec works..
I just started DD on Clartion today. It seems to have helped her for today but it made her very tired. She took a 3 1/2 hour nap normally its 45mins to a hour..

We use the generic zyrtec, as recommended by DS's allergist.

He has been off for a few days. He only got a half of a dose tonight. I will see what happens tomorrow... With the inability to breathe, he isn't sleeping very well so he is WAY off... I will give it a few days and wee what happens! Thank you

I did that today.... Claritin in the morning and Zyrtec at night. How old is your DC and how has this been working for him/her?
