Nursing moms...how much do you think you produce?
If you EBF, how much do you think you produce? The rare occassions I pump I figure I produce an ounce an hour. That means if DD2 nurses every 3 hours she onlye gets 3 (or slightly more) ounces at a feeding? My sister's DD is 4 months also and she gets 6 ounces of formula every 4 hours.
I mean DD seems satisfied and has wet/dirty diapers...just seems like so little to eat?
ETA...and she's a little chunky monkey so she's def gaining weight. Not sure why I'm concerned.

I don't have a clue how much I make! But the thing to remember is that formula fed babies need more ounces than breastfed babies. Because breastmilk is specifically made to feed babies, there is little to none of it that the babies doesn't use in some way. Formula, while it is a very good substitute, has more in it that the baby's body doesn't need, and will get rid of as waste. Therefore, to get 4 ounces of substance, they need to drink 6 ounces total, for example. This is why often breastfed babies poop less than formula fed babies- less waste.

I think that the baby is more efficient than the pump and will be able to take in more ounces than you can pump.

I really have no idea. Everything I've read says that how much you pump is no reflection on how much the baby actually takes in.
That said, I've also read that pumping between feedings should give you about half a feeding. I don't pump often, but when I do it's about 3 ounces. DD will take 5-6 ounces on the rare occasion she gets a bottle.

I could never pump more than 2-3oz ever! No matter what..I just wasnt a good pumper..I could nurse fine. Once I went back to work I had to supplement, eventually going to all formula...but I made it 6mths with a least getting some bm

This! Also want to add that obv I know when my boobs r full (when I miss a feeding bc we are out or during te night bc DD sleeps 9-11 hours) but there also are times where I feel like my boobs r empty & they aren't bc DD is able to eat so who knows! when I pump in place of a feeding (at work I usually get about 5oz total, maybe more if its in the AM & DD hadn't previously emptied my boobs after waking up) Also, DD is wayyyyyy better at getting milk out than the pump (dont think its the pump bc i have a good medela one.. Just think thats the way it is) so I don't really think there is any way to effectively gauge the amount.
