How to treat mosquito bites?

What can I put on my daughter for her mosquito bites? She is 14 months old. She must have my blood because I get bit every day with or without bug spray. My daughter had bug spray on and still has 10 bites on her legs :O(.

I put vinegar on it as soon as I can and then Aveeno anti-ich cream. Works great for DS and me.

Regular white distilled vinegar? Really?
I am going to try this on DD, she gets eaten alive and then the bites swell up and turn bright red. I feel so bad for her!
Thanks for the tip!

Re: How to treat mosquito bites?

I just saw on the news the other day that for children you should buy a roll-on deoderant (must be roll on) and when they get a bite, put the deoderant on it right away, it will stop the itching. Planning on trying it with my DS.

Toothpaste. No, I'm not kidding. It shrinks the bite and stops the itch. Just leave it on and let it dry. (I spent a several summers as a camp counselor, lol).

I also discovered calendula gel recently. I bought it at Whole Foods and it's awesome. It also shrinks the bite and stops the itch (esp if you put it on right after the bite occurs). It doesn't smell, dries fast, and won't stain clothes. You can use it as a first-aid cream or on minor burns too.

Re: How to treat mosquito bites?

I rub immediately with apple cider vinegar and then apply a small amount of honey to the bite.
