You can take a free trial class. I am going to take one soon b/c I was wondering how it was too. My DD is 16 (almost 17) months. I'll let you know if I go before you!

Re: Little Gym in Smithtown
I went last year and started when DS was 6 months old. DS is now 15 months and we are signed up for the fall, so maybe we will see you there!
I definitely recommend the free trial because you really need to see if it's a good fit for your child. My DS is very active and wants to run all over the place so it's great for him. It's a safe place for him to explore and go nuts.
Generally they do a group intro with some music and learning a skill. Then there's some open gym time where you can practice skills on the equipment. After that it's usually balls, bubbles, and a closing song. That's what it was last year anyway, not sure if they've changed up the formula this year.
We'll be at the Sat classes so feel free to shoot me an FM if you decide to come.

Re: Little Gym in Smithtown
I did a class with my DD last year when she was around 13 months. We went to an intro class and she actually cried almost the whole time so they let us even come back the next week for another free trial. She ended up loving it. We had Miss Donna and she was awesome. They tried to be "structured" but it was a bit hard with such a young age. It was fine though if the kids didn't want to sit for circle time or participate in the beginning group activities.,,,they weren't pushy at all. Miss Donna was great with the kids and got to know what each child needed. The place is very clean and well maintained. We would still go but it was pretty far for us (about a 1/2 hr with no traffic).
