Recommend Your RE Please! Xpost -BUMPING FOR HELP!!

DH and I are going forward if we don't get pregnant this cycle with an RE. Back in April we saw Dr. Pena at LI IVF but I am unsure about him. He target more about my weight than anything else and it made me feel horrible about myself. Since then I have lost 13 pounds and still going strong.

Please let me know who you recommend! Thanks!

Dr. Zapantis used to be at East Coast Fertility until the merged with LI IVF. He left and started his own practice, called New York Reproductive Wellness. It is in Jericho. The website is http://www.rwivf.com/ He left East Coast because he felt that the patient's care wasn't individualized enough and felt like it had become a factory.

I used him at ECF a few years ago and was successful with my DS. He is so kind, compassionate, and works SO hard for his patients. He is just incredible. I am at the end of an IVF cycle with him right now at his new practice. I love it there. It is small- it is him and three nurses. They are all super awesome. I am so happy there. They have appointment monitoring times so you never have to wait! It is incredible! Dr. Zapantis will talk to you for HOURS and answer every silly question you have, and will not make you feel dumb or annoying. I have his cell # for any questions I have. In the past, I emailed him, and instead of responding via email, he called me at night around 8pm and stayed on the phone explaining things to me for over an hour! Then he had to go put his children to sleep and offered to call me back! lol. He is just the sweetest man ever! He is so smart and very up-to-date with research and is always quoting recent studies and doing research. You will deal with him for every phone call and question you have.

He doesn't have his own lab yet since his office just opened in January and it is just getting started. So he does the retrievals and transfers at RSNY and I think North Shore (not sure what their facility is called).

The website is http://www.rwivf.com/

He is one of the most incredible people I know. As you can see, I can't recommend him enough. If you have any questions at all, send me a FM! That goes for anyone else who is reading this who wants more info about his new office. Good luck!

I just met with RSoNY (Dr. Stelling), and he was great. DH and I both felt very comfortable speaking with him, and my weight was not an issue whatsoever (i'm about 80lbs overweight Chat Icon). All he said was that he recommends his patients to just lose 5-10% of their body weight because sometimes that little amount makes all the difference. But, we are still going ahead with an iui.

My other RE over at LI IVF refused to do anything until I lost 30 lbs.

I reconize this name right away! My BFF used him to get pregnant with her DS. I didn't know he left LI IVF! I was thinking of going to him. I will check out the site. Just trying to weigh my options. I still feel so-so about Pena. He must of said about 10-15 times about my weight..it was very annoying and upsetting. Yes I know it can be factor of infertility but he made it seem this is the factor of why we are not pg. Very annoying...

I live in BayShore. They have a couple of offices stonybrook, Mineola, west Islip and Brooklyn. The west Islip office is just used for consultations but their monitoring hrs start at 630am so it's very convienent. I go to the stonybrook and Brooklyn offices. Stonybrook has monitoring on sat and sun too

So glad your friend had success with him! He is amazing. I love that his office is small and he is the only doctor you deal with. He is the person who calls with your instructions every day. He even takes blood sometimes. And there are three nurses there and they get to know you so well. It is such a nice feeling. He works around your schedule really well. Good luck with whatever you decide. Chat Icon

I see Dr. Davis. He's freaking brilliant, and you definitely get a sense when you're at Cornell that it's a whole other level of serious..albeit super busy. I heard the city office does an average of 100 scans on a given weekday, but the LI office is quieter.

I'll let you know if it was worth it to schlepp into Garden City for monitoring when I have my beta tomorrow Chat Icon

Absolutely 100% agree.. Couldn't have said it better. Had the same exact situation (got pg with DS with Dr Z at ECF and am now seeing him in Jericho for another IVF cycle.) He is by far the most caring and compassionate dr I have ever been to and I have seen quite a few RE's.

I know! He is so, so amazing! I am so happy that he opened up his own practice! Isn't it so amazing that you don't have to wait for hours for monitoring? I love that they make appointments!
PS- I saw you posted that you needed Ganirelex. I don't have that, but I may have Menopur if you are OOP for it. I paid a huge copay for it, but I hope I won't need it.

Awww Thank You!!!! Right now I am waiting to see if I am pregnant or not and then I am going to take the next step forward. How long has he had his own practice? He's totally gone from LI IVF right? Sounds way better then Pena. All he did was harp on my weight and made my self esteem go way down....Chat Icon

I was so glad that he opened his new practice also. In fact, we waited a few months to cycle with him while our insurance coverage got straightened out. Love the appointments...don't feel so rushed anymore. ECF I was a maniac driving there. First come first serve didn't go over well with me. lol

PS-thank you SO much! I will FM you once I figure out what I need. SO SO nice of you!
