SAHM of preschoolers
DD doesn't nap anymore (she's 4) Do you give your non-nappers any kind of quiet time during the day so you can have just a moment to yourself?
I have been trying to give DD quiet time for an hour each day, just so I can eat my lunch in peace , but she spends the whole hour asking if she can come out. She has never been one to go in her room and play, she always wants to be around me. I also tried letting her watch a movie in my room, but again, she just keeps asking to come out.

Re: SAHM of preschoolers
DS is 3 and doesn't nap anymore, but my 13 month old does from 11 to around 2. Usually DS will play by himself a bit in the playroom and I can do cleaning up or laundry. Then after he has lunch I let him watch some tv. Usually a show or two so I get quiet time. Today I mopped the floors and put in a load of pool towels and then washed his bath and pool toys. Not much quiet time to myself, but at least I got a lot done so hopefully tomorrow I can get quiet time. Don't get it each day depending, but if I do enough during their quiet time a few days during the week I get one day to myself. That's usually the day DS wants to play with me. Lol.

Re: SAHM of preschoolers
My DD will be 4 in September and gave up naps a few months ago however, she does still get tired and pooped out around 2:30 every day. She actually asks to just relax at that time if we are home. She likes to lay on the couch and watch tv. She will usually relax for a half hour to an hour.
If I tried to put her in her room though...........it would never fly. The little down time on the couch seems to refresh her though so I am happy she just will relax.

Re: SAHM of preschoolers
DS will be in school full time this year (he'll be 4 in 2 weeks) but this whole past year, since he gave up naps, I would force him to have downtime when my DD napped. I told him that it was quiet relaxing time and he would sit on the couch and watch TV. Probably too much TV but it gave me some down time.
If you are asking her to have quiet time while you are eating lunch, that might be too early for her to want to wind down. Can you try eating lunch together and having downtime in the afternoon?

Re: SAHM of preschoolers
My kids still have quiet times in their rooms every day during the week. They go up around 1:00 and come out at 2:30. Ronan still sleeps about 4 days a week. Declan usually plays but sleeps about once a week. They usually don't hve an issue with it nd if they do we just tell them its quiet time. they have plenty of toys, puzzles and books to entertain them if they don't want to sleep. On the weekends we usually dont do this because we are busy
