What are 5 year old girls into?
My neighbor's daughter turned 5 on Friday. They were nice enough to stop by DS' bday party a few weeks ago when he turned 3 to give him a gift. I'd like to return the favor but I'm honestly clueless what to get a 5 year old girl  I'm a true boy mommy and wouldn't even know where to start. Can anyone give me ideas of what would be a good gift?

i was just at a 5 year old girl party and i got her a
nice tea set that comes in like a wooden picnic basket
lego friends lego but awesomer in girlie colors
or some other ideas
book bag
backpack with cool girl school supplies
headbands
art supplies crayons markers

DD for her 5th birthday got dress up dresses (marida and tangled, clothes (dresses from Hanna Anderson and 3 outfits from children's place, disney princess nightgowns with princess jewelry), barbie dolls, arts and crafts things (like a talking canvas that you can record what you painted, melissa and doug jewelry box you decorate yourself), gift cards to disney store, TRU, princess items (princess hair and makeup sets). I think they are called friend's Lego sets. The legos were a big hit.

My 5 yr old loves:
-American girl
-Lego friends
-anything to do with art supplies
-crafts
-play-doh
-she loves this glow in the dark art set she just got for her bday
-dress up

What are 5 year old girls into?
If I didn't really know the child, I'd go more gender neutral, like a puzzle, board game, or Legos. My 5 y/o DD really does not like any of the typical girly things (e.g. she HATES princesses) so I'm always sensitive to these sort of things!

My almost 5 year old is currently obsessed with:
-Pirates
-Makeup
-Arts & Crafts (beads, coloring,etc...)
She has some princess costumes but shes not really into them or dolls yet.

My dd loves her barbies.
She also loves dress up and puzzles. Legos are always a good gift. Both my girls sit for hours and build with legos.

My niece just turned 5. We bought her an outift and the mess free crayola paints. She also loves barbies, justin bieber, coloring, arts and crafts and kindergarden readiness books (she calls them her homework!)

DD just turned 5 and is all about the barbies.
She also got a dream lite and she loves it.
Anything princess-y or Tinkerbell is a hit.

I just saw a super cute play doh princess set at Target. I am thinking of getting it for my DD. The Disney store also has adorable art sets for girls. I know someone mentioned Melissa and Doug jewelry box. They also have a stamp set that I know my DD would love (she's going to be four, but she loves all crafts).
