My Day at Sesame Place

DH, DS and I had a great day at Sesame Place on Sunday, so I thought I would share our itinerary and tips:

It took us about 1 hr and 20 mins to get there from Midtown East Manhattan. We arrived at 8am, about 45 mins early for breakfast with the characters. People start lining up about 15-20 mins before they open the gate. I HIGHLY recommend breakfast with the characters! We had breakfast with Abby and Cookie Monster at the outdoors Big Bird Pavilion. All of the characters are waiting for you to arrive. We saw Abby, Cookie, Super Grover, Ernie, Bert and Big Bird at breakfast. There is plenty of time to get pics with everyone, have breakfast and then the characters work their way too all of the tables. This was the best part of the day!

When you have breakfast you can us the attractions 30 mins before the park opens. This is a great time to get on the rides and save some seats by the pools before the crowds. DS is 2.5 and his favorites were Ernies tidal pool, the carousel, the bounce house, the nets (with DH of course!) and the playground and mini-bounce floor for the under-5 set.

We listened to advice and brought a picnic lunch. Since we were there so early we parked right next to the picnic tables. This was perfect.

We saw the Elmo rocks show after lunch. Get on line about a half hour early. It fills up quick.

Since we just saw all of the characters in the show we decided to skip the parade. This was the perfect time to go to the attractions in the dry area.

We left the park around 4pm and were home in time for dinner.

Some other tips and comments:
If you have a stroller, there is really no need for a locker. No one bothers your strollers and we left our things in it all day. Also, contrary to the reviews on TripAdviser, we found the people who work there very friendly and we found the crowd very courteous.

All in all, it was a perfect day Chat Icon
