DS looks like he's going to propel himself out of the crib! What do I do?

My son will be 1 on Friday... he JUST YESTERDAY figured out how to pull himself up to standing in the crib. He did it in the pack n play at my parents' house during nap time only yesterday. I'm watching him on the video monitor and he's standing up against the side of the crib with his arms over the side and every now and then he looks like he's about to pull himself over. That's not possible, right?

Meanwhile, he doesn't exactly know how to sit back down after he gets himself up. So, he was crying hysterically because now he was "stuck" standing. I had to go help him down... poor little guy.

I was so excited when he figured this all out... now I'm realizing it's going to be a nightmare! lol.

Any advice?

A friend of mine started using a crib tent when her DD1 propelled herself out of the crib (the crib was lowered but not all the way), she used it until DD1 went into a toddler bed and now she is still using it for DD2 who is about 17 months.

Anythingn is possible when it comes to kids !! Are you sure that the mattress is all the way down? Eventually he will fall by accident and then realize that's how to get down. Please, don't look for or buy a crib tent, they have been recalled and are not made at all anymore due to possible strangulation hazzards.

Yes, it is. His mouth is right at the top of the crib railing. And my son has awesome upper body strength since he does the military crawl to get around... all upper body! Lol.

Wow... didn't know about the crib tents. I actually did look them up on Amazon. Thank you both for the warning! I'll nix that idea!

DS is like this. He is only 7.5 months so I am preparing to get rid of the crib at an early age.

My daughter turned one last week, but has been standing in her crib since about 8 months. You just have to let him figure out how to get back down on his own. He might have a few days/nights of crying, but he will get it.

As for getting out of the crib, if his mouth is only about rail-height, I don't think he will be able to get out just yet.

Try turning the crib around if it has a high back.. Put the lower side against a wall if you can to slow him down on being able to get out.. That was recommended to me once.

My kids have the crib tents. Best things I ever bought.

Climbing out = nightmare.

The staff at BBB told me that the crib tents were recalled because much younger children can suffocate if the tent comes down and they can't move/ breathe.
