Ferber Method- decreasing nightime feeding approach...help???
Ferber Method BUT doing the decreasing bottles/nighttime feeding approach. Did anyone do this? Basically Ferber is saying if LO feeds during the night you can't just jump to CIO you need to decrease the amount they drink at their feedings. Has anyone done this? thanks

I read the Ferber book and decided to CIO for the nighttime feeding. I think it depends why the baby is feeding. If she is waking up because she is hungry, then you want her to stop being hungry in the middle of the night. You decrease the amount of liquid you give her so that she'll eat more during the day to make up for it, and not be hungry the next night.
But if she (like my DD) is only waking up out of habit, you can try CIO because she doesn't actually need to eat, so you're not starving her or anything. We did it right before DD turned 6m. The first night DD cried for 90 minutes (from 1:30 - 3:00), the next night she cried for 20 minutes, and the third night she STTN.
How old is your LO? You don't want to do this before 5 or 6 months, esp. if you're BFing.

Oh he's old enough, 10 months he eats a lot at night, like one whole bottle, sometimes more....but I think you are right CIO is probably our best bet. Thanks for your input.
