Formula amount question..
DD will be 4 months old next week. At her last appointment, the doctor told us to add cereal to her bottle to reduce her spit up. She's currently on Gentlease and get cereal no more than 3x per day. He also told us she should be taking 6 ounces every 4 hours.. Great, but DD takes only about 5 ounces during the day but at night will take the full 6.
I try to get her to eat the full 6, but I don't want to force feed her if she's full or uncomfortable. So my question is, what do you do when your baby decides to drink less than what you originally made or what she's supposed to eat?
How many ounces does your 4 month old take?

Formula amount question..
There is no "supposed to"...babies will eat varied amounts throughout the day and will stop when they're done. As long as there is growth and weight gain, you are fine! Don't force feed, it can cause your baby to not stop eating when full which can be harmful later in life.

Re: Formula amount question..
My son is 7 months old and weighs 27 pounds and he does NOT drink more than 5 ounces at one time, never has....RARELY he'll take 7 at bedtime.
I tell you this because babies will regulate what they drink and you shouldn't force them to eat more. This is one of the reasons that breastfeeding is recommended (NOT A BREASTFEEDING PROMO I PROMISE) becuase babies will self regulate how much they drink based on what they need.....Mom really has no idea what they are getting.
I'd seek a second opinion or just follow your mommy instincts , you know what is best for your child.

Formula amount question..
My Ped gave me a per day amount. Say 24 ounces per day. and I would just try and get that in however DS would drink it....sometimes a 6 oz bottle sometimes only 4. It never matter how much per feeding as long as I got to or close to the target for the day.

Definitely don't force feed. She will drink as much as she needs. My DD went through phases of drinking as much as 8 oz per feeding, or as little as 3-4 other times - and she's a big girl. As long as they are growing normally, there's no reason to worry. And they get formula that's mixed with the cereal too.
