BFing mammas....question about exercise??
I started to do the elliptical a few weeks ago. I am 4 months pp. I have since kicked up the resistance and have noticed DD becoming somewhat frustrated at her feedings following my workout. I've read that exercise can effect your supply. Has anyone else experienced this??
What can I do to make it better?? More water??
TIA

Make sure you are drinking enough water and getting enough calories. With ds I could to work out until he started eating more solids because my supply took too much of a hit no matter what I did. With dd I could run and still have enough milk but I had to be careful not to overdo it. If I didn't drink enough or if I didn't eat enough my milk supply would drop. But I did manage to lose all the baby weight from both her and ds while she was nursing. It just took longer since I had to go at a slower rate.

I've never heard that exercise can influence your supply, just that it can affect the taste if you're hardcore (training for a marathon, serious lifting, etc.).
Your supply will go up and down naturally for different reasons. Some people swear by drinking more water and eating oatmeal, even though the books say that it makes no difference. I guess if you're dehydrated from the workouts it could make a difference so extra water couldn't hurt on days you exercise, but you wouldn't need more than a couple of extra glasses.
Just keep at it and your supply should go back up again as your DD needs it.
