TMI (but funny) post
how do you make a 2 year old understand the difference between "passing gas" and going #2?
Everytime my son passes gas, he tells me "mommy I make a poop".
This morning, I took him out of the crib and he is screaming "mommy, I make a BIG poop! mommy change me mommy!"
He didn't smell, his room did not smell so I knew it must have been gas before I went in to get him. Change him, clean diaper.
He understands burps - calls them "piggies"
Do 2 year olds normally get the difference between having a bowel movement and passing gas? Embarassing but if he hears someone pass gas, he says "you made piggy" so he gets it when other people do it

i figure any advice will also help with potty training. I do not want to have to run to the bathroom just for him to pass gas but i guess at this age, they may not know the difference?

I don't know the answer, but I can tell you that my 2yo DD also screams poop every time she passes gas.

Re: TMI (but funny) post
Kieran has known the sifference for a while, probably since about 18 months. Passing gas, he calls tooting, which we have always called it. For as long as I can remember, whenever we heard him pass gas, we'd say "Did you toot?" or "You tooted!" or something like that, all in a silly way. I guess maybe that's why he knows the difference, because we've always talked about it and made him aware of the two.

I'm not sure how DS learned the difference but as a side note, whenever he toots he has to go to the bathroom and count to 20 (it was 10 before he turned 4)....where there's smoke there's fire... a good % of the time, he winds up doing a "code brown" while he's in the bathroom.
