Re: if your child was diagnosed with adhd:
Honesly the not responding to her name at 18 months would concern me as a red flag for an autism spectrum disorder. Because its a neighbor it is a sensitive topic but it would probably be best to have a full evaluation through early intervention.

Re: if your child was diagnosed with adhd:
yes ive mentioned that too, but ive seen this little one a few times and i kinda dont think its a spectrum thing
my friend dropped hints for getting the PT eval (with the hopes that the PT and special ed evaluator might pick up on something), but the mom was like Eh shes walking, shes fine

Re: if your child was diagnosed with adhd:
that sounds nothing like adhd. i agree with the possibility of hearing loss and autism spectrum. her ped should follow through though!

This. ITA! My brother was diagnosed with ADHD around 4-5 so I've had a lifetime of dealing with someone who has it and honestly, what you're describing doesn't sound like ADHD to me. I agree with everyone above, I would be very concerned about her not responding to her name and I would absolutely follow up with the ped for further evaluation.

Re: if your child was diagnosed with adhd:
Im not sure if i would pin it as either adhd or autism spectrum necessarily. I would be curious if these habits present themselves always or just when others are around. Does the mother state she is like this always or is this just the persons observations? It seems like there are some possible deficeits. An EI evaluation would be a good start but if mom is not on board it is very difficult. Im a special education teacher and have taught 2nd grade for the past 4 years and 6th for 2 year. One thing I will say, regardless of the grade, is that you can ALWAYS tell the children who receieved EI services. Although they may still have struggles you can see their confidence and skills are greater. Getting help early is the BEST way to help a child, imo.

Re: if your child was diagnosed with adhd:
I have a child with ADHD with hyperactivity and impulsivity.
He was always active, but I'm not sure that's the sign...kids are active (well all of mine are - I do long for a quiet/calm child sometimes). We didn't notice problems until around 3 when his speech was very difficult to understand and he wasn't "paying attention" when we were speaking (Scoring worse on receptive speech over expressive speech was a big indicator. I didn't suspect ADHD until our CPSE psychologist mentioned it.
There is a clumsiness component that can go with ADHD.
The idea with EI and CPSE evaluations is not to diagnose, but to provide services for children who might be behind in some developmental areas, so if the child needs some help, it doesn't matter what the diagnosis is as long as they get services to help.
