Potty training

I am having a hard time getting down the timing. We try as soon as DD gets up and I was doing every 30 minutes (she drinks a lot in the morning) but she doesn't always have to go and then gets frustrated and stops. Any tips?

I never made DS sit on the potty. I would just remind him every five minutes or so to tell me when he has to go. The one thing I've learned is that my DS can hold it for a lot longer then I thought.

What if you wait a little bit longer. If she doesn't have to go every 30 min. maybe try every 45 minutes?

Today was going well she went three times - we were going like every 35-40 minutes. But if I say let me know when you have to go she says ok and then half the time tells me and the other half just goes in her pull-up. She just woke from a nap and wants no part of it - I don't know why - it was going so well today!

Do you have her in a pull-up all day? When we trained DS we put him right into underwear. Pull-ups are only for naps & bed.

First, get rid of the pull ups completely. Tell her all the diapers are gone and put her in underwear only. That is the best way to train. If she knows she can rely on a diaper she won't use the potty. It may take several days, even up to a week but stay consistent. She clearly gets it, but she is just giving you a power struggle.

I would also stretch out the potty time to one hour or 1.5.

Ive been calling the pull-ups her "panties". There are no diapers in the house.

Right you need to get rid of the pull ups as well. The feeling of a wet panty is much more uncomfortable than a wet pull up. A pull up is just a diaper that you can pull up and down.

And don't Worry about her not telling you when she needs to go. It took my son 4 days to verbalize that he needed to potty.

How old was your son? DD just turned 2 and I am not sure she can tell me before it happens.
