Toddler Sleep Help...

DD is 27 months old and has been waking up in the middle of the night..whether it be 12Am, 2Am ,4Am, never consistent. A month ago we took away her binky, so I thought that was it...but now it's been a fully month and I don't know what to do. I tried moving bedtime later, limiiting naps (which haven't been consistent for months anyway!), trying to keep her more active to get her more tired, everthing. We can't CIO, becuase she clibs right out of bed and either bangs on her door until we open it or comes right into our room if we leave the door open.
Also, once she's up...she's up for quite a while- hours. Wants to talk, play, cries, etc. Doesn't matter if we ignore her or not.
I asked her WHY she wakes up and she said "I want to sleep in mama's bed" I told her "no, you have to sleep in your bed" and she said "no, I stay with mama"...

I'm thinking it's one of two things:
1- she's had a vocabulary EXPLOSION in the last month. Non-stop talking! Escpecially since we took her binky away. Everytime she hits a milestone, she goes through a short period of waking at night.

2- She seems to be going through separation anxiety...always saying "i stay with mama"..whether I bring her to the sitter she's been going to since she was 8 weeks old, or Dh tries to take her out or if I even go into the bathroom alone.

WDYT? Anythings I can do to get her back on track? I need SLEEP!

Instead of making her tired and pushing back bedtime, maybe you should try making bedtime earlier so shes not going to bed overtired and is able to reach full REM sleep and stay asleep. When she goes down do you just put her in crib and walk away and she puts herself to sleep? Or you stay with her?

Re: Toddler Sleep Help...

I put her to sleep. we lay down together and she falls asleep within 10 minutes. We used to be able to just put her in the crib and walk away, but that stopped at around 20 months.

She goes to be between 8:30 & 9...should I try at 8? It's hard because she realizes it's light outside and doens't think it's bedtime.

Yea id try earlier. Maybe get room darkening shades to help her relax at bedtime even if the suns still out.
