Need opinion on allergist for DD
Dr. Strauss? I was referred to him for DDs possible milk allergy. DD is 1...is he good with babies? I hope he is not one of those Drs that's an alarmist and over reacts to everything...
Any experiences or opinions with him?
TIA

Re: Need opinion on allergist for DD
I use him (see him once a year) and he's not an alarmist at all. DS has a milk sensitivity that he believed he would outgrow, which he is. The office staff is very nice. The office is very clean. We just switched peds (moved) and our new ped. also recommends him. He was happy to hear that and said "he's the best". If you look at Dr. Strauss' website you will see that he's been a top allergist for years now.

I literally just got off the phone with them! DD was just diagnosed with a peanut allergy. Made an appointment for 7/25 with the nurse practitioner.

Awesome! Thank you!!! I sometimes feel like Drs want to run a billion tests just to bill ins...and I hate putting her through any unescessary testing... Sometimes I'm not sure about my ped, who recommended him, that's why I asked...
It's reassuring to hear he's not an alarmist & comes so highly recommended!

The only thing he did on DS was a skin test. He didn't even re-run the skin test this year b/c we kinda knew he hadn't completely outgrown the sensitivity, though it has gotten better.
For our first appointment he asked a lot of questions and then ran the skin test. Then he came in read the test. Told me that mom's always knew best (won some brownie points that way) Asked us if we had questions and gave us pamphlets and sites to visit for any questions we had. I had a question after I left and the office got back to me with his answer immediately.

Re: Need opinion on allergist for DD
we use him. He is really great and he definitely doensn't run a ton of tests. He did test my son for peanuts dogs dust mites as well as eggs with the skin test. I am sure he could have tested him for a ton of other things but he didn't. He is really very calm and reasssuring.
Jonathan started seeing him when he was 22 months after 4 hospital stays for asthma attacks that Winthrop Pulmonary couldn't seem to control. He has not been hospitalized since he started seeing Dr. Strauss. Right away he put Jonathan on the right combonation of meds. I am so grateful to him ...he is amazing.
I really don't believe you could be in better hands.
Editing to add that he also one of the most caring drs. we have seen. Jonathan had a bad asthma attack last november and after seeing him earlier in the day he called to see how he was doing that night and asked me to bring him in the next day to re-check.
