first trimester weight gain

I'm only 8 weeks tomorrow and I already gained about 5 pounds. I've been trying to watch what I eat so I don't know what's going on. How much did you gain in your first trimester?

If you were thin/underweight to begin with then that is definitely a good thing. Your weight gain will vary month to month.

My first pregnancy I gained nothing at my 12 week appt and went up 4 I think at week 16 BUT I was heavier than when I got pregnant this time.

This time, I was up 2 lbs at 8, another 2 at 12 for a total of 4 and went up 6 the next month for a total of 10 by week 16.

i didn't gain anything, but i was very sick in the beginning. i don't think 5 pounds is bad at all

I small to begin with and gained around 10lbs the first trimester. I've been averaging a pound a week the entire pregnancy so far.

11 weeks, 2 lbs. so far but at this point with my son, I was -5 lbs.

10w with baby # 4 and i stepped on the scale last night and went up 1lb so far. i havent felt well at all, but i didnt gain weight my first trimester with my last 2, i dont remember with my first.

First trimester was about 5 lbs. With the nausea the only that I could eat were carbs.

I was 15lbs ow when i got my bfp. i gained 2lbs in the first trimester. i couldnt stomach anything. ms was my enemy

I had been dieting right up until I got pregnant so I gained 3lbs very quickly, I'm only 7w4d... not that I ever had a really flat stomach but I have noticed that seems to be where the weight is going.

12w6d and up 5lbs. The only thing that helped my MS was carbs!

I didn't really gain anything in the first trimester, but I'm three weeks into my second trimester, and up 4lbs. Definitely scared to see my doctor next week!

i lost 2lbs but i was already heavier than normal when i got pregnant due to IVF meds. i didnt even have morning sickness, but i lost weight due mainly to food aversions to pretty much everything.

Thanks for this post, reading other responses answered something I was curious about today.

I gained 1 pound in my first trimester. I ate like a COW and was too tired for exercise but I guess my metabolism was revved up.

For some reason, as soon as I hit week 13, I am like a balloon (I'm now in week 14). I am now up a total of 4 pounds which may not sound like a lot but between my boobs and belly, none of my clothes fit. My legs also seem heavier so it feels like more gain than that.

Try not to worry so much about the number - just like when you aren't preggo, thinks like water weight, constipation, gas/bloating, can make the number higher than it really is. Just try your best to eat healthy and take care of yourself.
