MMR Spinoff - Poll - How Old was LO when they got it?
DD is creeping up towards her birthday (YEY), and I am considering pushing back the MMR. However, my practice only allows it to be pushed back a single visit (to 15 months), which I know is when many practices give it. There have been alot of MMR posts on here lately, so I guess this is a bit of a spinoff.

Re: MMR Spinoff - Poll - How Old was LO when they got it?
My office suggested the MMR and Chicken Pox vaccine both at her 1 year visit.
I got her Chicken Pox that day at her 1 year visit and scheduled her MMR for 6 weeks later.
So...13.5 months?
She had no reactions at all to either, not even a fever! The only reason I split the two, was because I wanted to be able to distinguish with vaccine if any contributed towards a side effect.

DS is 25 months and hasnt got it yet, bc he was sick a lot this winter and we wouldnt give him vacinations when sick ( so we are now catching up). We havent been delaying it for any other reason.
Our dr gives at 18 months. DS just got chicken pox vacc. He will get mmr by end of summer.

DD got both the MMR and chicken pox at 1 year, I believe. DS is scheduled to have them at his 15 month visit. But I requested to have them split this time after DD had a not so good reaction when she had both at the same time.

My DS got it at 15mo and got the Chicken Pox Vaccine at 12mo. He never had a reaction to either other than a lowgrade fever.

My DS was the same schedule and also only had a very low grade fever for maybe 24-36 hours.

DS had it at 18 months. (I think)
DD is 2.5 and I still have not given it. I'm not sure when I'm going to give it, maybe this summer, or after she turns 3.

Re: MMR Spinoff - Poll - How Old was LO when they got it?
My DS got it at 2 yrs, 8 mos. I didn't have any issues with the ped until after he turned 2. Then they started to push it.
I just want to put out there the reason I delayed it is that my DS always had reactions to shots and the reactions to this shot can be VERY serious and, we had a family history of serious reactions. Everyone thinks people delay because of some hypothetical fear. For me, it wasn't hypothetical, I was afraid of the documented, actual reactions that can and have occurred as you can read about in the product insert itself. The older a child is, the bigger they are, the SAME dosage is given and their bodies are better able to handle it. Case in point - my DS got the same shot boosters at 3.5 that he had at 15 mos - 15 mos and prior he had a reaction EVERY time. At 3.5, no reaction at all. He did react to the MMR but, it was manageable, if I gave it at 1 I don't believe it would have been so. I will do the same for my DD with no hesitation.
ETA: My ped had no problem with this whatsoever (until after 2 when I think they were worried I was never going to give it LOL). I think a GOOD ped understands that every child is different and if you speak to them and explain your intelligent, thought out and researched reasons for delaying, as long as you plan to vaccinate at some point, I would not want to go to any ped that wouldn't accept that. It's one thing if you are not going to vaccinate at all - this is an entirely other issue.

MMR Spinoff - Poll - How Old was LO when they got it?
My twins are 19 months and I am not giving it to them until probably around 3, for the same reason as itsbabytime. I'm not afraid of the shot causing Autism, I personally don't believe that. I'm more afraid of the other serious reactions that have been documented.

DS got his MMR after his official autism diagnosis at 18 months old. DD got her at 2 because of ear infections, then tubes, then we didn't go back to see the doctor until she turned 2.

My practice does it at 15 months. I wish I could of pushed it back to at least 24 months, but that office doesn't allow you to do that.

Can I ask a question, and I don't mean to single you out - it's just a general question but your post brought it to my mind.
I don't understand how a Ped's office can not "allow" you, the parent, to give or not give a vaccination. You are the parent, it should be your decision when to give a vaccination. If you wanted to hold off until age 4, would they then kick you out of the practice?
Just a question for anyone who can answer that - I'm truly curious.

Yes I have heard of this before. There are some peds that if you don't follow their schedule- or if you want to vary/delay it more than they are comfortable with, they will deny your child treatment and ask you to find another ped. That is a question to be asked when interviewing the ped I guess.
